Digital Producer

KGW in Portland, Oregon is looking for a creative and energetic Digital Producer to join our team of multi-platform journalists at one of the most innovative TV stations in the country. We''re looking for someone who believes in the power of local journalism and wants to help create digital content that is unparalleled in our market. Our digital producers are primarily responsible for writing and curating content on our digital platforms, including website, mobile app, OTT platforms, social media and more. Digital producers work closely with newscast producers, managers, reporters and photojournalists and others in the newsroom. Candidates must be able to calmly and competently react to breaking news, including quickly sending out confirmed information via social media platforms and app push alerts. In addition to working on stories with other reporters and producers, digital producers also have opportunities to report original stories. A successful candidate will be innovative with solid news judgment, strong news writing and copy-editing skills, as well as social media experience. Qualified candidates will have experience posting stories to digital-mobile-social platforms, working knowledge of online CMS software, video and photo-editing skills, and the ability to work a flexible schedule. Responsibilities: Post stories to all KGW digital, mobile and social platformsReport news as it happens online (strong breaking news skills) and reach the widest possible audience through application of advanced social media skillsMonitor news releases, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other online news sources to get stories together and post them to the KGW websiteWork with all newsroom departments on content coverage, broadcast-digital coordination and social listeningPost photos and videos to the KGW website, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, InstagramIdentify compelling, unique stories and user-generated content of interest to our audienceCreate original video for web and social platformsCreate enterprise content (stories, videos, photo galleries) for the KGW digital platforms.
