With our combined resources CommonSpirit is committed to building healthy communities advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable and innovating how and where healing can happen both inside our hospitals and out in the community.ResponsibilitiesFull time, varied shifts, Saint Joseph Main Hospital, QualificationsJob Summary / PurposeIn accordance with our mission and core values and under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Supervisor, the Equipment Technician will perform all retrieval, cleaning, stocking, and assembling of equipment used in the Respiratory Care Department. The equipment technician will assemble and distribute intubation boxes throughout the hospital. The Equipment Tech will perform maintenance on equipment as needed and assist the Supervisor in any quality control and infection control activities. Liquid oxygen and medical gas cylinder management will be within scope of practice. The Equipment Technician will provide non-technical support for the Special Procedures area to include patient transport.Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesBackup for the supervisor in the area of inventory control and ordering of supplies.Receive supplies and stock shelves in such a way as to keep the respiratory department running smoothly.Check stock, order medications, and retrieve them in a timely manner as needed.Perform needed repairs on all respiratory equipment including complex items under the guidance of the supervisor.Perform pre-use checks on adult ventilators.Perform cultures and maintains appropriate records for the department disinfection processes.Assist in the quality control activities relating to the hospital''s medical gas system.Clean, disinfect, assemble, and restock emergency supplies for emergency kits and intubation boxes.Retrieve, dissemble, clean, reassemble, and stock all equipment for therapeutics.Clean, disinfect, and assemble adult ventilators.Serve as resource person for respiratory therapy equipment in the absence of the supervisor. Provide education in equipment processing for respiratory therapy students and new employees.Oxygen procurement around the house. Monitors number of E cylinders available for use and replaces empties with full when supply runs low.Work with transportation in delivery of E cylinders. Delivers oxygen containers to areas of the hospital that call for them.Transports patients for the Special Procedures areaCleans and restocks the bronchoscopy area following procedures.Other duties as asked by Respiratory Staff. Must possess a thorough knowledge of respiratory supplies, instruments and equipment.
