Medical Assistant - OB/GYN

ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will be responsible for: Directing patient care and assisting other clinical staff in a professional manner according to established policies, procedures and standards of care as clinically appropriatePerforming clinical functions, such as veni-puncture, finger sticks, injections, and lab/specimen prep in a OB GYN settingGreeting and assisting all patients and visitors to the officePerforming all clerical duties related to patient check-in, scheduling, insurance verification, billing and payment collection, system task management, message taking, file maintenance and responding to correspondenceHandling the surgery reservationsThis position will require traveling between our officesSome evening and weekend hours are required. This position requires clear, written and oral communicationThis position requires providing service to the following age populations: pediatric, adolescent, adult, older adult, frail elderly in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual servedQualificationsIf you possess the following qualifications, please apply immediately: High School diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge/familiarity with general medical office functions and procedures including ICD-9 codes, CPT coding, medical terminology and HIPAA regulations is required. Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants required. Five years of continuous Medical Assistant experience will also be considered if not a graduate of accredited program for Medical AssistantsCurrent certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants preferredCPR certification through the American Heart Association required. Experience using a computer in an office setting is required. Ability to verbally communicate information to staff and patients, professionally and in a timely manner is required. Minimum one year of experience performing clinical functions, such as veni-puncture, finger sticks, injections, and lab/specimen prep in an OB/GYN setting required.
