In addition to technically leading and executing projects, the Senior Automation Controls Engineer also assists with the scoping and bidding of new projects. This position interacts with clients to understand and develop automation requirements and transform them into effective control solutions. This is done through the use of software engineering techniques, use of standards, templates, and procedures, and use of good engineering judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. The Senior Automation Controls Engineer must have strong written and verbal communication skills and must be team-oriented. The ideal candidate will have depth of experience in the following areas:PLC: Rockwell Logix Controllers, PLC-5s, SLCsHMI: FTView, PanelView, WonderwareDrives: Allen-Bradley VFDsDCS: PlantPAxThis position will be based in North Carolina and will be a remote position.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform design and engineering functions in accordance with accepted practices and company standards.Prepare project scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, bills of material, cost estimates, and other necessary project documents.Lead or assist in gathering field data and preparing project and functional specifications.Coordinate the design and implementation of high-quality industrial software programs with other members of the project team in keeping with the defined project requirements.Work with the assigned Project Manager to achieve the overall project goals and objectives.Prepare project correspondence as required.Maintain positive client relationships on assigned projects.SPECIFICATIONSBachelor of Science Degree in any of the following: Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, or related field from an ABET accredited college or university.Twelve plus years of controls, automation, and electrical troubleshooting with start-up experience.Professional Engineering (PE) certification preferred.Varied industrial background is a plus. Key industries include food, specialty chemical, pharmaceuticals, mining and aggregates, oil and gas, and manufacturing.Ability to travel approximately 50% locally and 20% overnight. Current clients are within a 1.5 hour driving radius of central North Carolina.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear.The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.This employee may perform industrial field work which could include exposure to hazardous locations, inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, noise, ladders, uneven ground, and stairs.This employee may perform industrial field work which could include exposure to a wide range of known food terested in hearing more?
