Bluegrass Community HospitalESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSupervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Maintains open communication, provides updates and performs other tasks as directed by the Director of Nursing or Med/Surg Director.Upon approval from the DON or M/S Director, determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow.Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving. Takes call for the unit as assigned. Works collaboratively with other departments and provides assistance as needed. Leads huddles, briefs and de-briefs.May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs, cover open shifts, absences to increased patient census.. Assists with patient admissions and discharges and performs Case Management tasks in their absence.Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating tegrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth and ensures staff have necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPI: Participates in on-going performance improvement for the unit and the organizationContinuing Education: Participates in continuing education for current clinical practice, hospital requirements and licensing requirementsPatient Care: Provides quality patient care, works other than usual shifts as needed, works other than usual areas/units as needed, if qualified for duties required.
