Job Designation A professional who oversees very large or complex IT initiatives (may include IT applications, infrastructure, IT services, software, etc.). The main duties include articulating the business case, project planning, resource allocation, and project or program delivery aligned with best practices as well as policies and procedures. While this is a general role and each person in this role is expected to perform this work generally across various functional areas, this particular job is for project management leadership for Engineering or Manufacturing functions. Much of the work is likely to be associated with projects involving the applications and systems supporting manufacturing, managing application rationalization and remediation, providing IT products and services to manufacturing sites, and integrating engineering and manufacturing systems. This project may require travel to several sites for timely management of assigned projects. Job Core Responsibilities Manage relationships with the major stakeholder groups (a project sponsor or executive, often a senior representative of the user community, and IT leaders and sub-functions within IT) and the Project Board (includes presentations and recommendations for decisions). The major stakeholder groups are often represented by an executive, so executive communication skills are essential. This aspect of the job requires skilled relationship management, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Perform budgeting, planning, scheduling, and financial management (must understand financial analysis methods and must be conversant with financial topics). Manage the resources required for a project and follow- through with actuals such as spending (capital or expense) and labor (time tracking). Orchestrate the work of the entire project team. Prepare presentations, plans, and project artifacts to communicate IT project information. Act as facilitator for constructive meetings related to a project. Guide communications and organizational change. Since virtually all projects create change, the project manager must be a skillful leader and communicator for effective change. Work with IT service transition colleagues, user representative(s), business process owners, and others to ensure effective change. Job Specifications The Lead IT Project Manager will normally have at least 8 years experience in multiple sub-functions of an IT organization and will normally have more than 5 years of experience managing IT projects or programs. This role requires more than 5 years of leadership experience and the demonstrated ability to manage the largest projects or programs with a project budget measured in millions of pounds. The Lead IT Project Manager is expected to be a role model in the organization and to act as a mentor and coach to IT Project Managers and IT Senior Project Managers. A Bachelor''s degree (or equivalent) is required, preferably in technology, business, or finance. A Master''s degree in similar disciplines or an MBA is preferred. Skills and Experience: Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures Ability to research and analyze data effectively Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports Excellent verbal and written communication skills Presentation skills Ability to influence stakeholders Excellent customer service orientation Track record of building and maintaining customer/client relationships Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines Strong prioritization skills Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically Supervisory skills, including delegation, training and evaluating performance Team building Skills Conflict management skills Decision making skills Demonstrated ability to provide cross-functional leadership Proficient in Project Management tools (i.e., MS Project) or similar project tool (s) Knowledge of basic accounting and finance practices, procedures and methods for the management of costs and benefits, return on investment, and net present value; understands policies on capital expense (CapEx) and operating expense (OpEx) related to the development of software products (especially for internal use) Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-browsers (desired) Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes Significant knowledge of multiple sub-functions of IT Knowledge of Project Management principles and methodologies Demonstrates a high level of stakeholder management and communication skills, with an aptitude for dealing with IT and business colleagues and suppliers at all levels; communicates with empathy Attention to detail; self-starting and strong focus on completing / finishing. Able to effectively deal with difficult stakeholders; navigate in environments with ambiguity, change, and complexity; and achieve desired outcomes. Proven experience of working with matrix-managed and remote teams.
