When the funds for the position are exhausted, the position will be eliminated. The selected candidate will be required to sign a Temporary Employment Agreement and Grant Fund Acknowledgment Form.Provide support services to management. Coordinates the enforcement and application of the various departments that work with the Houston Permitting Center to ensure correct enforcement of all City of Houston Building Codes and Ordinances. Prepares the legislative analysis and coordinates for all COH building Codes and Ordinances. Provides direction to managers as related to Building Code Enforcement. Prepares correspondence and provides written responses for the Building Official for code interpretations and alternate methods requests from property owners, construction professionals, and their representatives. Researches and provides technical codes and standards interpretations for the Building Official and staff. Position will identify problem areas and recommends solutions to the Building Official and staff. Meets with the General Public, Contractors, Technical Professionals, and others to ensure all problems are resolved. Serves on city committees, with outside agencies and related national organizations. Prepares and delivers speeches and presentations. Performs and completes other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONSThe position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
