Director of Professional & Outpatient Coding

A healthcare facility in New York City is currently seeking an experienced and certified coding professional to join their staff as their new Director of Professional & Outpatient Coding. In this role, the Director of Professional & Outpatient Coding will be responsible for assisting with all key aspects of managing the internal and day to day operations of the Professional and Outpatient Coding Services Department. Responsibilities: The Director of Professional & Outpatient Coding will: Prepare and monitor expense and capital budget for the department Ensure quality assurance reviews are conducted on an acceptable sample of all coding performed by the staff within the department and arrange for education or corrective action based on results of the internal quality assurance reviews Assist the SVP of Finance with establishing, organizing, and implementing the Professional and Outpatient Coding Services Department Implement and manage a reconciliation process to track the receipt of encounters requiring coding from clients and transfer of coded encounters Routinely review billing denial reports related to coding to identify areas requiring process change and/or education to achieve coding and/or billing compliance Establish and implement a mechanism to monitor performance and productivity expectations Maintain appropriate documentation for each staff member relative to their performance and any position related education Handle other duties, as needed Qualifications: 5+ years of progressive experience in Coding and Coding Management; 3+ years of Professional Coding and/or Coding Compliance experience 2+ years of Coding Management experience Bachelor''s Degree in a related field CPC, CCS, or CCS-P Recent experience with Medicare and Medicaid Billing and Coding regulations Thorough knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid professional documentation requirements, CMS coding guidelines, Teaching Physician documentation requirements, and NCCI/ OCE edits ICD-9, ICD-10CM, and CPT coding skills Great interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong attention to detail Highly organized Desired Skills: Master''s Degree in a relevant Management and/or Healthcare field Bilingual
