Float Medical Assistant (MA)

A healthcare services network in New York is currently seeking a new certified Medical Assistant (MA) for a promising Float position throughout Dutchess, Orange, and Rockland County. Responsibilities: The Float Medical Assistant (MA) will: Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone Prepare patients for their appointment by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room Verify patient information by interviewing patient; review and/or record medical history; and, confirm purpose of visit or treatment Support patient care delivery by: helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; and telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies Educate patients by providing medication and instructions; answer questions Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results Keep inventory of supplies Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential Perform other duties, as needed Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) program Medical Assistant (MA) certification Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills Patient oriented Great interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong attention to detail Highly organized Desired Skills: Previous experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) Working knowledge of NextGen
