Medical Lab Technologist

A hospital in Virginia is actively seeking a compassionate and dedicated Medical Lab Technologist to join their growing staff. In this role, the Medical Lab Technologist performs, assists, and is responsible for various clinical laboratory test procedures. Responsibilities The Medical Lab Technologist: Ensures proper maintenance and operation of instrumentation Exercises professional judgment in the performance of laboratory procedures Provides patient care essential to laboratory procedures Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and reports to provider Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program that typically results in the acquisition of an associate degree Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the Board of Registry of American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Certification Agency (NCA) Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, chemistry, mathematics, hematology and serology at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited program (National Commission for health Certifying Agencies) with supervised clinical internship Familiar with a variety of laboratory testing procedures to resolve technical problems Knowledge and experience peforming phlebotomy CPR Training
