As Engineer II, Biomedical Product Development, you will be part of our CardioMEMS R&D team focused on delivering the future in medical devices. The Engineer II will use multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop innovative minimally-invasive catheter delivery systems for implantable products within Abbott''s heart failure division.You will support development of catheter delivery designs and implantable anchoring designs based on user needs that improve product reliability and efficiency, increase product safety, or create new uses and therapeutic value. Responsibilities:Conceptualize new devices using material knowledge and innovative mechanical designPlan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project goalsConceive and build prototypesEstablish requirements and specificationsRun empirical and experimental analysisDevelop test methods and clinically relevant modelsComply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignmentsMaintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendorsSupport animal and bench testing and clinical evaluationsIdentify and mitigate project risksMaintain knowledge of the developing clinical environment (i.e. current treatment methods, evolving clinical needs etc.) cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.Required Education and Experience:Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or other related engineering field.2+ years of related work experience in R&D of cardiovascular delivery devices or advanced degree may substitute for some years of experiencPreferred Qualifications:Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organizationAbility to work within cross-functional teams as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environmentKnowledge and understanding of a variety of engineering disciplines, theories and concepts, to support development of innovative approaches to problem solvingProject management skillsExperience with modeling tools like SolidWorks preferredExperience with a variety of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability preferredExperience designing and testing medical devices preferred.Knowledge of polymer extrusions and biocompatible materialsWHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
