Summary of Role: As a firmware QA engineer, you will work closely with firmware developers and other QA engineers to develop, modify, and execute test plans for features on Linux-based IoT hardware devices. You will evaluate test coverage and results to identify gaps and determine proper test methodologies. As part of continuous integration, you will automate existing test cases to run as part of automated regression test suites. All your work will help ensure that the product meets customer expectations for each hardware and software release. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Develops test plans and executes test procedures for new firmware features Runs in-depth testing, detects problems, recommends solutions, and determines if feature requirements have been met. Identifies, analyzes, reproduces, and gathers detailed failure information to resolve firmware defects in conjunction with the development team Documents and maintains test cases and test results in the test case management tool Develops and executes automated regression test suites monitoring for failures and periodically reviewed to assess test coverage Minimum Qualifications: BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar field 8+ years of experience in embedded software/firmware quality assurance and/or embedded software/firmware development Proven experience with test plan development, automated testing, and continuous integration Ability to automate testing using Python, C/C++, or similar programming languages Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking system Familiarity with Linux Knowledge of embedded processors, hardware interfaces, communication protocols, multi-threaded programming, RTOS, Linux, or equivalent system testing Essential Qualifications: Understanding of the SW/FW product life cycle and testing of products from inception to end of life Experience with TestRail or similar test management tool Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills Comfortable working on a fast-paced, global team Detail-oriented and organized Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Git workflow Understanding of Linux OS behaviors Expertise in troubleshooting networking, wireless connectivity, and/or power line communications issues Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Ability to work in a lab with electrical hardware and test equipment Must be local No travel required Equal Employment Opportunity The Company is an equal employment opportunity employer and makes employment decisions, including but not limited to, hiring, firing, promotion, demotion, training, and/or compensation, on the basis of merit.
