Research and Development EngineerDo you want to have an impact on the world''s energy future? Our client is a leader in the new energy economy and is looking for a talented Research and Development Engineer who can identify meaningful opportunities, develop new technologies, and deliver them to the marketplace. As a Research and Development Engineer, you will bring demonstrated hands-on expertise in the specification, installation, programming and commissioning of instrumentation and data acquisition systems to support field demonstration activities. You will also perform R&D functions including technical assessments of emerging technologies. Primary ResponsibilitiesSupport project teams as the subject matter expert in specifying, procuring, installing, and commissioning instrumentation and data acquisition systems to monitor technology performanceIdentify and assess new M&V technologies or best practices that improve accuracy or reduce costsActively monitor data collected to identify potential problems and proactively identify solutionsWork effectively with project teams, manufacturers, contractors, and end users at field sites while meeting project timelines within budgetDemonstrate technical expertise with strong written and presentation skills; document M&V guidance and best practices for internal staff as neededExecute field and laboratory test procedures while complying with all safety protocolsCoordinate effectively with in-house contracting, purchasing, and accounting staffDemonstrate that internal and external customers are a high priority; show willingness to go the extra mileOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Demonstrated hands-on experience in specification, installation, and commissioning of sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, and energy consumption for water heating, power generation and/or HVAC air distribution and hydronic systemsDemonstrated experience in electronics, controls, building energy systems (HVAC, water heating, electrical, building envelope) and related codes & standardsExperience with data acquisition and data analysis; programming experience in LabView, Campbell Scientific, Logic Beach, or equivalent is a plusWork effectively in small teams and independently; manage and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilitiesFlexibility and willingness for continuous learning and improvementStrong communication and technical writing skillsOccasional travel for field site visits or pilot implementationsEducation and Experience Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or related engineering disciplineMinimum of 3 years of relevant work experience desiredYour past professional experience in these areas is highly valued, but so are your personal abilities and willingness to learn.
