Easy Apply now by clicking the ''Apply Now'' button and sending us your resume.Salary: $110,000 per yearA bit about us:The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for managing and overseeing all facets of our accounting operations, including the monthly close cycle, financial reporting, internal control and policy development.Why join us?Excellent benefits!Outstanding company culture!Stable, growing company with over 30 years in business!Great work/life balance!Job DetailsThe Controller will work closely with department and project leaders and their respective staffs, as a way to not only educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also as a way to explore how the finance function can support program operations.Responsibilities:Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, General Ledge and Revenue RecognitionCoordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variancesLead the financial closing process and prepare, publish timely financial statements ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reportingCoordinate all audit activity - client, or external CPA firmResearch technical accounting issues for complianceDevelop/document/implement business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controlsCoordinate the preparation of tax returns and produce supporting work-papers as neededImplement a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit centersReview monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintainedPerform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balancesPrepare of monthly reforecast incorporating historical results and future assumptionsImplement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reportingPartner with the CFO, senior leadership, and the human resources (HR) and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goalsProvide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.Requirements:Proven working experience as a Controller, with 7 + years of overall combined accounting and finance experience preferable in the service industryAdvanced degree in Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred. "Big Four" or national accounting firm audit experience is preferred but not requiredThorough knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP) and implementing and monitoring strong internal controls policies and proceduresExperience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close processExcellent accounting software user, savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting softwareCommitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordinglyKeen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reportingStrong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partnersPersonal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment and a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for financeSolid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investmentsAbility and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managersCompetencies:Leadership skillsEfficiency and time managementPerformance managementAbility to influence managementCommunication skillsPeople skillsAbility to commission, deploy and monitor effectivenessEthical ConductInterested in hearing more?
