Job DescriptionAdvance Auto Parts is replacing multiple legacy data applications and deploying industry leading solutions to transform the IT landscape and deploy strategic solutions as the platform for corporate growth, driving operational efficiencies to allow us to better service our Customers.As a Director of Data Management at Advance Auto Parts, you will have an opportunity to disrupt a $100B auto parts industry to bring better and faster solutions to customers.The Director of Data Management will work with Business and Technology leaders to develop data platforms vision, strategy and execution plans that are aligned with business outcomes. This role will work closely in implementing data analytics capabilities for core merchandising and Digital Ecommerce solutions. This role will help build and oversee all data infrastructure work and processes, including data governance and data integrity approaches.The Director of Data Management will work closely with Merchandising and Digital IT and Business senior leadership teams in helping develop data strategy to enable business outcomes and growth. Will lead the work of functional area(s) through subordinate directors.The Director will be responsible for executive presentations and communications on all IT aspects of the projects. The role involves collaboration with the business stakeholders on change management and key decisions required to deploy the IT solution. This will require clear communication skills and ability to articulate the pros & cons of decisions to be made and ability to recommend based on own industry experience and knowledge. The preferred location for this role is Raleigh, NC (AAP HQ) Candidates who meet the criteria for this role may be considered for a remote working opportunity. (travel as needed)ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Implement the Data Analytics strategy and successfully oversee data initiatives and projects to deliver the strategic solutions for corporate systems Enable the development of data driven products and solutions while identifying long-term data requirements related to data structure, and organization, as well as those education and tools needed to expand data literacy in the enterpriseTranslate business strategy into data requirements for the products and solutions for the business unitsIdentify data-related process, policy and infrastructure requirements resulting from new and evolving product constructsProven ability to work cross functionally and build partnership to deliver results and influence change in a highly matrix organization across complex ecosystems.Use data analytics to provide meaningful, timely and accurate data to drive business insights around technology enablement, digital transformation, and enterprise intelligence.Responsible for vendor management, technology selecting, deploying, managing and enhancing on premise and SaaS data solutionsWorks closely with Business and Technology executives to develop platform vision, strategy and execution plans that are aligned with business analytics outcomes. Create a strong partnership with the Product Owners (PO) and leadership for Data Management technologies for "well managed" and effective data platform and tools operations.Deep understanding of current data technologies, solutions, identify improvements, options & tradeoffs, define target state solutions and propose investment roadmaps, including recommendations to retire, build or enhance data platformsLeads Data & Analytics Platforms development and sustainment, including Data Lake, Analytics, Data Quality, Machine Learning platforms and more. Works closely with Business and Technology executives to develop platforms vision, strategy and execution plans that are aligned with business analytics outcomesCollaboration with Enterprise & Solution architecture on deployment roadmap, modernizing our application landscape and implementing flexible / robust integration methodologies. . Responsible for the implementation roadmap to successfully deploy the strategic IT solution and maintaining business continuity with remaining legacy applicationsDrive the solution deliverables in accordance with the business value and maximize ROI attainment by business.Manage successful IT delivery within budget and time commitments.Define and manage assigned IT departmental P&L, including payroll, software support and non-project related professional services.Define and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with business leaders, staff and support partners / vendors.Manage staff in accordance with organization''s policies and applicable legislation. Requirements______________________________________________________________________Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or similar field of studyOver 18 years of experience in IT Systems Development and implementation with a minimum of 6-8 years working directly on Big Data technologiesExperience managing large globally distributed teams.10 or more years in a leadership role; or Equivalent combination education and experienceOver 5 Years hands-on experience developing and managing Merchandising and Ecommerce Digital data solutions.Must have designed/architected and implemented end-to-end big data solutionsExperience developing Data warehouse solutions hosted on Cloud data warehouse, distributed systems and analytics platformsCloud based Data and Analytics platform solutions experience on any cloud providerStrong knowledge of SaaS. PaaS solutions and data integration methodologies.
