Applications accepted from: ALL PERSONSJob Classification: IT LEAD - INFRASTRUCTUREPosting Number: 26943Department: HOUSTON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (HITS)Division: ENTERPRISE INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICESReporting Location: HOUSTON, TEXASWorkdays & Hours: MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM* *Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSLeads a technical team focused on identifying, configuring, and installing personal computing (PC) systems hardware and software to enhance employee productivity and improve process efficiency while ensuring compliance with overall information systems goals and procedures. The work includes: Gathering business and end user requirements; Analyzing and evaluating personal computing products, devices, and systems available in the marketplace for affordability, compatibility, expandability, and ease of use/support; Installing and configuring PC systems software to optimize performance and integration with client/server applications and info-communications transmission networks; Analyzing functionality and risks for mobile computing devices, including policies and approaches for managing security. Provides in-person assistance to employee end users including: Maintaining and troubleshooting a range of user problems including PC hardware/software; Diagnosing problem source through discussions with users and coordinating with internal organization support and operations groups and/or with vendors to resolve problems; Panning for/responding to service outages and other problems; Training users on use of new technology and software. Supervises professional level employees (typically entry or experienced level) and may also supervise some para-professional employees. Responsibilities typically include: Setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results. Problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex. Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.WORKING CONDITIONSThis position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
