The CDEIO owns and willLead strategic diversity and inclusion initiatives across the agency, improving internal culture, increasing employee engagement and retention at The Jewish BoardServe as a spokesperson for these issues within the human services industry and nonprofit sector, and ultimately helping our staff of social workers, therapists, and direct support professionals to deliver outstanding care to a highly diverse population of 45,000 clients across the five boroughs of New York City. The CDEIO is foremost an astute strategist and a deep subject matter expert who knows how to weave diversity, equity, and inclusion into the fabric of the organization to help drive operational effectiveness. They understand that disparities in wealth, income, longevity, health, education, and housing exist by race, ethnicity, class, gender, gender identity, disability/ability, and geography. The CDEIO''s work will help the organization understand and address the disparities and systemic inequities faced by The Jewish Board''s clients. The CDEIO will have a robust ability to assess where The Jewish Board is currently at in their DEI journey, identify what kind of large-scale, agency wide programs need to be created and implemented to ensure that the organization is on the path to being a leader in ending disparities, and design and implement these initiatives to measurable success. To do so, the CDEIO will take a consultative, listen-first, and solutions-oriented approach to the process of getting to know our complex organization and our people, all while bringing a deep level of empathy and emotional intelligence to the organization. The CDEIO will help The Jewish Board create and integrate leading-edge DEI practices throughout the organization, using proven change management strategies to ensure that the agency delivers on its purpose of providing outstanding mental health and social services to vulnerable populations. Key to their work will be designing strategies to transform our agency culture. This will be done holistically by:Educating and training our board, senior leadership team, managers, and staff so that the entire organization understands the basis and importance of providing culturally affirmative care;Advising the CEO, CPO, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Clinical Officer on organizational design and re-design initiatives; and by conceptualizing and implementing robust talent management strategies.QUALIFICATIONSThe Jewish Board is currently looking for talented professionals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:BA required, MA degree a plus. Minimum of ten years of experience with a plus being prior experience in a nonprofit or large agency setting Familiarity with changing culture within environments that require sensitivity and creativity in managing existing tensions and power dynamics. Significant experience advancing a diversity, equity and inclusion plan/program within an organization that includes many internal and external stakeholders. Possess understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for diverse racial, socio-economic, ethnic, academic, religious and cultural backgrounds, knowledge and experience of Jewish culture and traditions, as well as various staff identities - gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, to name a few. The ability to write with simplicity, clarity, and succinctness.
