Our deep brain stimulation technology for progressive diseases help people manage their Parkinson''s disease and essential tremor symptoms, steering away from side effects.Our location in Plano, TX currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical Test Engineer II. The Mechanical Test Engineer will be responsible for performing mechanical engineering testing to support the design and development effort of spinal cord, peripheral nerve, and deep brain implantable stimulation systems.This includes working with engineers on test protocols, designers for test fixtures, test set-up, running mechanical tests, coordinating with outside vendors for additional testing and assisting with writing of test summaries/reports.WHAT YOU''LL DOStrong understanding of Design Controls, Verification, Validation and Design Transfer.Develop Design Input, Output, Verification and Validation plan for Design FunctionDevelop and execute Verification and Validation protocols based on system requirementsDevelop and initiate sampling procedures and statistical process control methodsDrive quality control activities (including, but not limited to, FMEA, Hazard Analysis etc.)Develop test strategies to determine the best means of providing design verification and reliability.Validate test methods using equipment qualification, software validation, DOE, and measurement analysis.Develop and qualify new test tools and protocols, ensuring that test objectives are effectively incorporated.Coordinate assigned projects resources (technical and equipment) maximizing test throughput efficiencyPlan time and priorities in an effective manner to achieve all tasks assigned with the objective of assuring data integrity and compliance.Apply design for reliability (DFR) and design for test (DFT) concepts (DFMEA, FTA, etc) during the product development process to ensure that designs are intrinsically reliable.Analyze test data for conformance to pre-determined acceptance criteria and prepare formal reports and results summaries.Assist the engineering team in failure investigations / root cause analysis for problems identified during lab testing and field issues.Work with lab technicians, both internal and external, to execute and troubleshoot product testingUse problem-solving skills: 5Ms, 5 Whys, Gage R&R, etc. to determine the root cause of issues.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU''LL BRINGRequiredBachelors in Mechanical/Electrical/Biomedical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience.2+ years technical work experience in the engineering field.Strong expertise with PC applications including MS Word, MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.PreferredMedical Device experienceMRI or RF experience is a plusWHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
