IT Manager - Network Engineering General Description The IT Manager - Network Engineering is responsible for leading a team of Network engineers in design, configuration, and support of all layer 2 and layer 3 networking functions. Essential Functions Provides daily management and supervision of at least 3-5 fulltime network engineer employees in the section. Coordinates assigned supervisory personnel and their projects ensuring timely and quality activities for the benefit of the section, division, department, City, and the community. Oversees the proactive design, implementation, support, and monitoring of the City''s network including planning, design, development, configuration, installation, monitoring, maintenance and optimization, support, and troubleshooting. Mentors and develops staff through technical design review, feedback, technical and non-technical coaching, and evaluation of work performance. Responsible for the management and configuration of all layer 2 and layer 3 networking equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, and access points. Works closely with the City''s cybersecurity team to ensure all security policies are applied to the network. Ensures network strategy, design, and operation are in support of current and future business needs through proactive coordination with IT and business units. Manages network projects by developing timelines and project parameters, reviewing and approving plans and documents, devising solutions to problems, ensuring projects are completed effectively and efficiently, reviewing and approving agreements, authorizing payments, conducting, and attending meetings and meeting with associated parties. First point of contact for all escalated network engineering needs. Oversees the timely response to after-hours incidents requiring immediate response. Ensures all network operations are documented and network diagrams are maintained. Build, maintains, and manages vendor comparisons, communications, and relationships. Coordinates purchases through vendors. Translates complex technical information to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Assists with the implementation and evaluation of department policies, programs, projects and procedures. Assists with implementing the department vision through section activities and leads the section to maximum employee productivity and morale through hiring, disciplining, evaluating employee performance, investigating, and resolving grievances and other coordinating human resources actions. Analyzes organization and community needs, analyzes trends, reviews statistics and opportunities communicates to the department leadership of impending developments. Develops strategic partnerships and contacts with community representatives, external agencies, and other organizations to develop a sense of relevant issues facing our community and to respond as a representative of the City. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor''s Degree Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in information technology. At least 3 of required 5 years in a Lead or Supervisory capacity in a related functional area. ''Lead'' is defined as leading at least one (1) full-time FTE in a work unit. It does not include leading projects, departments, contractors, interns, etc. ''Supervisory'' is defined as having supervised at least one (1) full-time FTE. Preferred Qualifications Cisco Certification CCNP, CCIE Extensive experience in the following areas - enterprise networking equipment, firewalls, load balancers, managing data and converged networks and wireless network Extensive technical knowledge and experience of managing and maintaining large-scale, highly available, Internet facing networks This role is a Hybrid (in house and remote) need to able to go on site when need (Downtown Tucson)
