Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Submarine Fire Control Technician with U.S. Navy experience to support and serve as a regional technical authority for direct fleet support of Atlantic Fleet LOS ANGELES and VIRGINIA class submarines at the Submarine Technical Support Center (STSC) in Groton, CT . The specialist will support a variety of troubleshooting support for various components, equipment, and systems. The candidate''s responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing, supporting, or supervising the following task areas: Apply knowledge of engineering theory and methodology in the analysis and resolution of problems encountered in submarine technical support/field service engineering assignments. Support Alteration Installation Teams (AITs) when requested with removing and installing equipment, testing, troubleshooting, and system operation. Provide shipboard, in-shop, and at-sea technical assistance on controversial problems that have been determined to be beyond the capability of organizational/intermediate level activities and ship repair facilities. Support system grooms and Information Assurance (IA) upgrades and downgrades. Provide assessment support for: CSA, INSURV, PAT, PICO, SOSIMAA, SOVT, TSRA, WSRA. Security Clearance Requirements: Must already possess an active or interim TOP SECRET security clearance and maintain it for the duration of employment. Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Six to eight (6-8) years of full-time engineering experience onboard LOS ANGELES and VIRGINIA class U.S. Navy submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of combat systems and/or weapons handling equipment. Experience in evaluating the material condition of ship systems and implementing corrective action. Maintain current NAVSEA fiber optic certification requirements (meet the NAVSEA requirements over the life of the contract). Knowledgeable of relevant U.S. Navy supply systems/programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, and guidelines. Proficient with common productivity software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel is anticipated. Typical Physical Activity: This position''s essential functions typically include (but are not limited to): climbing, typing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision, and walking. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to operate in an active waterfront support facility, and be able to board and move throughout active submarines as required to conduct identified job duties.
