THOR Solutions is actively seeking a junior-level Technical Writer to support a Training Development team in Virginia Beach, VA . The writer will work as part of a team composed of other Technical Writers and content developers to support developing existing U.S. Navy and Coast Guard technical data into formalized training curriculum. An ideal candidate will be a motivated multi-tasker, have proficiency with common productivity software, and have a familiarity with U.S. Navy or Coast Guard terminology and methodology. The candidate''s responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following task areas: Perform analysis of data and create Job Duty Task Analysis (JDTAs) and Front End Analysis (FEAs) for courseware development. Conducting needs analysis to determine the appropriate content. Develop various training products, including Course Description Documents (CDD), Course Master Schedules (CMS), Learning Objectives (LO), Training Guides (TG), PowerPoints (PPT), Lesson Plans (LP) and Job Sheets (JS). Conduct Authoring Instructional Material (AIM) II, AIM Content Planning Module (CPM), and AIM Leaning Object (LO) Module loads. Provide Quality Assurance (QA) for all training products. Maintenance of accurate training product records and files. Security Clearance Requirements: Must already possess or be able to qualify for & obtain a SECRET security clearance. Must be able to maintain it for the duration of employment. An existing or interim SECRET security clearance is preferred. Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor''s degree in a business, technical, or other relevant discipline. At least two (2) years of experience in technical writing and/or training content development for U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, or DoD programs and systems. Basic familiarity and experience with Navy or Coast Guard processes and terminology. Able to establish timelines, meet deadlines, and present ideas clearly to company and Government decision-makers. Able to work closely with system and Government Subject Matter Experts (SME), team members, and other contractors as required. Be an organized self-starter with superb attention to detail, meticulous grammar, and a clear understanding of how to translate and organize complex technical information into an array of readable formats. Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as other common productivity software. Possess excellent written & verbal communication skills, including the ability to give presentations and briefs to internal/external customers. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience with quality control. Familiar with Microsoft SharePoint and Teams. Travel Requirements: This position is anticipated to require up to 20% travel.
