Our goal is to 10x our current catalog of around 100,000 SKUs in our first year, bringing on more of the right items and becoming the One Stop Shop for our customers.The Marketplace Business Development Associate will be responsible for growing our seller base. In this role, you will shortlist companies that could be a good fit for our Marketplace, conduct outreach to decision-makers at those companies, and align with them that expanding to Michaels is the right decision for their business. You will guide them through the application and onboarding process and help them launch on our Marketplace. Once they are live, you will work closely with Account Managers to grow your sellers'' sales. Success in this role involves both launching a high number of the right sellers and seeing those sellers grow their sales once they go live.To succeed in this role, you must have strong organization and time management skills"”you will be managing conversations with dozens of sellers at once and need to prioritize which ones to pursue. You should be comfortable doing cold outreach (via calls and emails) and building relationships with a diverse set of businesses and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of empathy, putting themselves in the sellers'' shoes and listening closely to help sellers find success on Michaels Marketplace. You should also be a collaborative problem-solver, as you will be working closely with our Account Management team to grow sales for the sellers you bring to the Marketplace. If you love building relationships, leading sales pitches, and collaborating with internal partners, this role is for you.Major ActivitiesCreating and maintaining a "go-get" list of sellers to reach out to, ranked by priority and relevance to Michaels'' category goals.Managing communications with your sales pipeline via cold outreach, pitches, discussions, negotiations, attending trade shows, etc.Walking sellers through the application and onboarding process, including setting up their seller profile, adding items and inventory, and configuring shipping methods.Working with Account Managers on already-launched sellers to help them grow sales via adding new items, shipping at faster speeds, promotions, competitive pricing, and maintaining high inventory levels.Taking feedback from sellers on the seller experience and raising concerns to Tech to support the development of new features and tools.Other duties as assignedMinimum Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBachelor''s Degree in any fieldProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)0-2+ years of experience in Retail, eCommerce, Sales, Business Development, or Account ManagementExceptional verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skillsComfortable cold calling and cold emailingPreferred Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesExperience with Salesforce, HubSpot, or any enterprise CRMExperience pitching to and building relationships with senior stakeholders (VP+) at target companiesExperience with retail operations and ecosystems (catalog, inventory, wholesale, drop ship, fulfillment, returns, etc.)Familiarity with 3rd-party MarketplacesFamiliarity with Arts & Crafts product categories and popular brands/sellersApplicants in the U.S. and Canada must satisfy federal, state, provincial and local legal requirements of the job.
