JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for data entering all patient and specimen information into the laboratory information system. SUPERVISION: SUPERVISED BY: Transcription Supervisor/ Operations Manager SUPERVISES: None WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Transcription and administrative staff. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Desired: Medical terminology experience EXPERIENCE: Required: Minimum typing speed 40 WPM, 1-3 years experience Desired: Three+ years experience as a Data Entry Clerk in a medical facility. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS: Required: None Desired: Medical terminology course. EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS: Laboratory Information System Ability to operate copier, printer, fax machine and scanner. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of word-processing software. Skills in written and oral communication. Knowledge of Navinet and Emdeon systems WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment. PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS: Requires full range of body motion including manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Sitting for extended periods of time. May require lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds. KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Verifies requisitions for completeness of patient and client information Accurately enters all patient and specimen information into laboratory information system (patient name, location, etc.). Responsible for verifying patient names in Navinet or Emdeon for all cases that do not have insurance cards attached and also verifying illegible names in Navinet or Emdeon. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors, and the Company. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as department rules, polices, and procedural manuals. Adherence to Safety Regulations. Adherence to HIPAA Regulations.
