Primetals Technologies, a worldwide leading engineering and manufacturer of capital equipment for the steel making industry, known for our strengths in mechanical engineering, electronics, automation, manufacturing, project management and service is hiring for the following position:Inspection TechnicianPosition Overview:Examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications to ensure on-time quality shipments to customers.Responsibilities: Perform all required inspection involving the use of mechanical, electronic, coating thickness, hardness and optical gages.Operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to measure geometry on parts.Possess an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.Possess good written and oral communication skills. The position requires concise communication with multiple departments within PT. Ability to perform mathematical calculations, particularly trigonometry, required. Ability to maintain accurate data within the PT computer system using SAP modules, MATRIX, and OUTLOOK.Accurately complete and maintain records required to support the quality process.Possess the ability to work independently and by using problem solving techniques, develop solutions to issues.Conduct independent reviews of error impact on mating parts. Seek out knowledge resources for past or possible dispositions and make recommendations for Engineering approval. Communicate complex ideas and instructions in a clear and logical manner.Operate a forklift and an over head crane using chains and straps.Audit work processes to ensure procedures are followed for both manufacturing of parts and safety. Document and communicate findings by manually writing reports and entering information into the computer.ASQ certification preferred. (If not, training for ASQ certification exam will be expected.)Be willing to work overtime as needed to support the needs of the department. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations and ISO procedures.Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.Required Knowledge/skills, Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivelent. Graduate of vocational school with machine shop experience is a plus. Experience in a machine shop with experience in quality control is requiredAbility to work a flexible scheudle and be able to work different shifts and overtime as required to meet business demands.Ability to operate a Coordindate Measurement MachineAble to successfully work in a fast-paced changing environmentBasic computer skills. Strong knowledge of MS Office.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to read detailed engineering prints for production components and determine inspection techniquesAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Able to communicate effectively and clearly through verbal and written means. Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several anized and efficient. Ability to organize and prioritize work.Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities.
