Applications Accepted from: All Persons InterestedPosting Number: 26877Department: Houston Public WorksService Line: Transportation and Drainage OperationsSection: Street and Bridge Maintenance BranchReporting Location: *TBDWorkdays & Hours: *MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM*Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPlans, prepares, advertises, and manages day to day operations and maintenance work. Operations and Maintenance work typically includes, but not limited to preservation, repair, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of various sizes/scopes. Prepares for and conducts pre-bid meetings; receive and review bids and prepares bid tabulations for recommendation of award. Prepares correspondence, appropriate documents and construction contract and contract close-out for approval by City Council. Manages construction contracts and coordinates with various stakeholders and consultants to handle and resolve field issues. Prepares, reviews and routes for approval contractor''s monthly pay estimates. Assists Engineers in preparing in-house design plans for projects. Performs CIP plan reviews for Street and Bridge Maintenance Branch. Provides technical analysis and information to develop solutions and improve systems and processes. Assists with the response to inquiries from City and public. Provides assistance with the special assignments and technical support as needed. Provides general supervision and coordination in reviewing contractors compliance with plans and specifications. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; overseeing the inspection activities and contractors to review and evaluate contractor''s compliance on various construction project plans and specifications, reviewing preliminary and final plans for construction, requesting information and submittals, resolving construction issues, operating vehicle to and from various construction sites, attending pre-bid, pre-construction and other meetings, preparing and reviewing various reports and records, managing multiple contracts of various sizes, serving as the liaison between city personnel, contractors, consultants and testing laboratories, other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONSThis position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces. This position may require work outdoors in the field throughout the day.This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier II Level.
