Role Overview:CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) CLA Search has been retained by a real estate client to identify a Controller to serve their team by running the day to day operations of the accounting and finance group. About our Client:Our client is diversified real estate company that specializes in the acquisition, development, and management of multifamily luxury apartment buildings, commercial real estate, shopping centers, and office buildings. What You''ll Do: Supervise accounting group that includes Assistant Controllers (2), Staff Accountants (4), Account Payable Clerks (2), and a Financial Reporting Analyst (1), and manage day to day accounting operations including cash management, treasury management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting.Ensure appropriate controls and procedures are in place for accurate and timely financial management and reporting.Oversee month-end close, including preparation of financials, reconciliation of mortgage and bank accounts, and reclasses to the general ledger.Manage process of calculating and billing associated management fees and reimbursements to management company.Ensure commercial property accountants timely preparation of CAM reconciliation and reporting.Supervise calculation and disbursement of monthly and quarterly investor distributions and management of investor capital balances.Utilize existing and new accounting systems to automate processes and reporting where appropriate.Work with property management to research and explain budget to actual variances and forecast cash needs in advance. Support Chief Financial Officer (Transactions) with ad-hoc analysis requests.Manage treasury products (LIBOR contractors, derivatives) with the assistance of outside brokers, consultants, and the CFO.Make strategic recommendations to senior management and deliver ad hoc analysis for business processes.Work with internal audit to test internal controls; coordinate with property personnel to ensure that controls are implemented and executed properly. What You''ll Need:7+ years of real estate accounting including experience with GPR, revenue management, A/R, A/P, GL, and financial reporting.Recent experience with real estate accounting.Bachelor''s degree in accounting or finance.Proficiency with Yardi Voyager 7S Advanced Proficient in MS Excel.Proven track record of change management leadership and process improvement. Strong analytical skills.Excellent written and communication skills.Ability to interact with senior leadership.Superior organizational skills, must be detail oriented and possess ability to multitask, as well as coach and mentor junior staff.Mature professional with excellent judgment, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
