Position Summary: The Principal Industrial Engineer is responsible for preparing analyses and implementing projects involving all aspects of warehousing to support the customer. This includes development of project scope & objectives, establishing engineering and/or modeling methodology & approach, formalization of realistic project timeline & project plan, direct supervision of engineering resources and third parties for the flawless execution of projects, performing risk management to minimize project risks, managing the communication & relationship with customers (internal/external) and stakeholders, delivering superior engineering solutions in accordance with the approved project scope, objectives and timeline, documenting/presenting solution results to the customer and/or working with various groups at Penske Logistics to implement the solution design. Major Responsibilities: • Leads and conducts multiple projects or solutions concurrently (utilize PM tools and processes when needed) • Direct supervises engineering resources and third parties for the flawless execution of projects • Develops and maintains scope of work document including project scope & objectives • Establishes engineering and/or modeling methodology & approach • Formalizes realistic project timeline & project plan • Performs risk management to minimize project risks • Manages the communication & relationship with customers (internal/external) and stakeholders • Deliver superior engineering solutions in accordance with the approved project scope, objectives and timeline • Documents/presents solution results to the customer (internal/external) • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and perform project analysis and design work, when needed • Conducts benchmarking analysis and communicate results to customer leadership to establish baseline for value generation and to identify additional growth opportunities • Provides performance feedback to team members and their direct manager at the conclusion of the project • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor Qualifications: • Bachelor''s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Management Science, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline required. Master''s Degree preferred. • 7+ years of experience as a Logistics Engineer or comparable experience designing, developing supply chain solutions. • 5+ years of experience in AutoCAD designing 2D layout and elevation plans • Experience in various warehouse management systems, Blue Yonder preferred • Experience in implementation and maintenance of Labor Management Program • 3+ years of experience in developing, implementing and maintaining slotting program • Prior experience in lean tools and concepts such as VSM, Shikumi, standardized work, workplace organization, etc.. • Strong command of supply chain, logistics and transportation concepts required • Multi-level communication skills both written and verbal, and with internal and external customers required. • Willingness to travel as necessary up to 35% Knowledge and Skill Requirement: • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint). Skills in MS Project a plus. • Must be able to effectively use supply chain network modeling design tools • Ability to analyze data and conduct extensive research required • Excellent analytical/problem solving capabilities • Excellent presentation skills • Must demonstrate strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills, particularly when problems arise that may affect solution outcome and/or project schedule. • Customer orientation • Team player and team building • Must be able to work somewhat independently and concurrently on a range of unstructured tasks/projects and properly prioritize work, all with limited supervision or direction • Developed time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills Physical Requirements: • The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
