Substance Use Counselor

POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for providing specialized services for the treatment of co-occurring substance use and mental illness to individuals enrolled in the ACT and ACT TAY Program. Full-time, benefits eligible position. Rotating on call for client crisis line. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - JOB SPECIFIC Service provision based on multidisciplinary ACT care plan to include, but not limited to, conducting comprehensive substance use assessments that consider the relationship between substance use and mental health; Assessing and tracking consumers'' stage of change readiness and stages of treatment; Using outreach and motivational interviewing techniques; Using cognitive behavioral approaches and relapse prevention; Providing individual co-occurring counseling; Arranging and providing educational and process groups co-occurring counseling; Preparing and/or participating in development of individualized wellness plans and wellness plan reviewsHigh percentage of consumer contact involve specialty related activities related to substance use or co-occurring treatment concernsResponsible for appropriate documentation and recording within the case record according to policyParticipate in ongoing clinical supervisionParticipate in regular team meetings, including the following functions WITHIN the team: Modeling skills and consultation; Cross training other staff and help them develop dual disorder assessment and treatment skills; Attend daily organization team meetings; and attending all treatment planning meetings for consumers with a dual disorderAdhere to ongoing professional training policiesOther duties as assigned ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES - COMPANY WIDE Regularly attends work except for approved absencesAttends all training as requiredMaintain professional, ''champion'' behaviorProvides quality customer serviceProvides services with a commitment to service excellenceWorks in a way that exhibits a commitment to personal excellenceTeam oriented and values diversity DESIRED DEMONSTRATED KEY COMPETENCIES Analytical ThinkingChange ReadinessCollaborative RelationshipsConflict ResolutionCreative ThinkingCommunication - OralCommunication - WrittenDecision MakingEmpowers OthersFlexible ThinkingForward ThinkingMultitasking/PlanningOrganizational/Time ManagementProblem SolvingRisk Management/ AssessmentStrategic ThinkingTeamworkTechnical Expertise WORKING CONDITIONS & EXPOSURE RISK Operating vehicles or machinery EDUCATION Bachelor''s degree requiredMaster''s degree preferred WORK EXPERIENCE Training or experience in integrated dual disorder treatment preferred LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION Current substance abuse counselor certification (CADC, CRADC, CRAADC or CCDP) and/or current licensure (PLPC, LPC, LMSW or LCSW); or currently pursuing required Compass Health is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and an E-Verify participant.
