Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist under corporate guidance and site leadership collaboration will be responsible for facilitating, coordination and maintaining optimal EHS programs that adhere to statutory regulatory requirement and BrassCraft polices in addition to having a positive effect to the company''s EH&S programs. The EHS Specialist works with the EHS Corporate Team to plan, direct, and implement BrassCraft'' s environmental health and safety programs and to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment. The position is responsible for the compliance with all environmental and safety regulatory agencies. While having a general knowledge BrassCraft, this position will focus on compliance monitoring and reporting in all areas. This position would also support in emergency response situations when they arise and will support EHS operations and staff to foster a zero-tolerance culture and ensure compliance.PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborates with management to facilitate, prepare, and support in implementing EH&S policies and procedures.Coordinates the health & safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.Evaluates the continuing suitability and effectiveness of the environmental health & safety programs.Support current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.Provide recommendations for improvements and additions to the environmental health & safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.Implement program that stops operations and activities that could harm staff or pose equipment health & safety issuesIdentifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.Shares environmental health & safety information within the appropriate levels of the organization.Supports compliance reporting as required by BMC, Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and rules are submitted as per requirements.Facilitates EHS compliance audits for manufacturing environment.Facilitates training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization.Ensures that training records, environmental manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained.Coordinates and recommends the purchasing and distribution of personal protection equipment or other related supplies.Monitors known health, EHS hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levelsSupports and monitors on annual target rates for Lost Time, Recordable, Severity, and Environmental KPI''sSupports in managing strategies to prevent workplace injuries, environmental incidentsPerform risk assessments, JHSA and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/or behavioral control measures. Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in-place control measuresIdentify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment useExercise coordination, and communication role within the location to drive continuous EHS improvement across the locationFacilitate and works within cross functional teams to conduct root cause analyses and develop corrective action plansMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associates degree in Engineering / Environmental Sciences or equivalent in EHS experienceMinimum 2 years'' of health -safety and/or environmental experienceSafety Management experience in a related industryKnowledge and experience with EH&S Management systems and their deploymentKnowledge of RCRA, SWPP, SPCC, Sara Tier 2 reporting, incident investigation and reportingEHS auditingPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:EMS ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 experienceKnowledge of security protocols and emergency preparednessKnowledge of applicable CAL OSHA standardsProficient in written and verbal communication skillsAbility to conduct training eventsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailComputer literacy and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a results-driven, team-oriented environmentMaintain confidentiality and ability to work with minimal supervisionExperience with Workers compensation compliance processes and HIPPADemonstrate excellent organizational skillsBilingual (English / Spanish)Experience in manufacturing environmentKnowledge in Workers Comp.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspectionABOUT USBrasscraft Manufacturing Company is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality water and gas flow control products, plumbing service, and repair parts, and drain cleaning and plumbing hand tools for the new construction and repair/remodel markets.
