Borrego Solar seeks a Director of Project Development to drive our origination efforts of large-scale solar and energy storage projects in the Midwest. Our employees are driven and animated by the Borrego System of Excellence, an operating framework detailing our mission, vision, strategy, and cultural principles and working systems.About the RoleThe Director of Project Development for the Midwest will report to the Executive Vice President of Project Development. While starting as an individual contributor, the expectation is you will build a team of Project Developers, and drive performance through a cross-functional group that includes representation from Engineering, Policy & Business Development, and eventually Project Finance. Your eventual direct reports will bring focus to the emerging DG solar and storage market segments we see building in IL through the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) of 2021, and other enabling legislation we expect on the horizon in MN, WI, MI, and OH. The ideal candidate will have a broad skill set that makes them comfortable in a range of economic, technical, and structural contexts associated with complex project development, and will be an entrepreneurial leader who can organize ad hoc cross-functional teams and think flexibly and strategically. Direct experience with project development is a must. Borrego Solar is a national leader in renewable energy, with strong and steady leadership and outstanding culture. Location: We strongly prefer that this position be in our Chicago, IL office but remote locations within the assigned geographic territory will also be considered. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Generate a detailed, multi-year project development plan, directing collaboration and input from many Borrego employees.Build and manage a high-performing team to act as the core of our expansion into the Midwest for solar and storage projects in excess of 2mw DC.Collaborate effectively with a range of Borrego departments, including others in project development, development engineering, policy and business development, and project finance.Develop go-to market strategies to meet or exceed annual project volume targets. Given the multi-year time scale for these projects, initial targets will focus on leading indicators of increasing development activity and growing pipeline value.Analyze the impact of changing regulatory environment and adjust strategy as necessaryOwnership and continuous improvement of sales processes and tools for your teamAnalyzing, forecasting and reporting to senior leadership on project status, project revenue and project driven profit.Help your team close lease, PPA, and MIPA agreements.Desired Skills and ExperienceWhile no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes:5+ years of experience with >2mw AC solar and/or energy storage project development, and a successful track record in a complex, multi-disciplinary professional environment.5+ years of experience as a people manager.Strong knowledge of electricity system market structure, rules and regulations, and economics, with some proficiency in the engineering and physics of the system.Demonstrated ability to manage and work effectively with cross-functional employee groups; we''re looking for people whose references will say you''re a great teammate.Strong understanding of core quantitative concepts of business and finance (IRR, NPV, etc.).MBA pensation, Benefits, and CultureBorrego uses an internally equitable and externally competitive total cash approach to compensation.
