Our location in Plano, TX currently has an opportunity for a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer. The Senior Engineer participates in the design of new best in class implantable and external neuromodulation devices, for the treatment of chronic pain and neurological disorders. The Senior Engineer designs embedded software and firmware and development tools in a fast-paced cross-functional design environment, and is current on new technologies and design practices. This includes providing instruction, oversight, and mentoring to other design engineers and pushing for excellence in themselves and the team. WHAT YOU''LL DOFunctions as a key firmware/software development expert within the organizationFirmware / embedded software design for the product using advanced engineering and scientific principlesWorks with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to solves difficult technical issues with a methodical, data-driven approachCreate novel design solutions that expand the business''s intellectual propertyDevelops requirements, development plans, test plans and risk management solutions.Provide technical solutions for developing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Cybersecurity and low power embedded softwareEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU''LL BRINGRequiredBachelor''s degree in electrical, computer engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Minimum 7 years of relevant engineering experience in the design and analysis of real-time embedded firmware designs with low power, mixed signal processorsExperience with design and implementation of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) designs and cybersecurity/data transfer best practicesExperience implementing BLE 4.2 attribute protocol and familiar with Apple and Google BLE stacksExperience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) software development and bare-metal microprocessor developmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Experience with software development for medical devices and IEC 62304 complianceDemonstrated knowledge of medical device design controls (21 CFR Part 820) and project managementExperience with processor interfaces such as SPI, I2C, JTAG and UARTMaster''s degree in computer engineering or related fieldExperience with digital signal processing, data analysis and/or machine learningExperience planning project deliveries, milestones, and schedules and leading sub-teams in the delivery of firmware tasksWHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
