Twin County Regional HealthcareJOB SUMMARYThe registered nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total care of patients as delegatedReports to: Director of ICU, House Supervisor, and CNO JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationGraduation from a school of nursing as a registered nurse required.Required LicensesVirginia, United States Registered NursesCurrent RN license required.One year of clinical nursing experience in critical care or medical/surgical preferred.BLS required.ACLS and PALS required within one year of employment.ASLS preferred.Required SkillsVerbal and written ability to give information and present ideas essential in administrative management.Ability to understand advanced theory and practice in nursing.Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department.Ability to discern legal implications in nursing.Ability to motivate personnel, problem-solve effectively and handle stress in a positive manner.Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital departments.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSFunction as a staff or charge nurse and performs functions of a registered nurse - uses the nursing process to access, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients.Supervise and coordinate care in a manner to ensure that patient needs are provided in an efficient manner and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.Ability to problem-solve effectively and apply critical-thinking skills to provide quality patient care and improve patient outcomes.Familiar with ICU monitoring equipment and application of that knowledge to the patient''s condition.Provide excellent customer service including patient education.Ability to work with all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.Ability to work with Paragon applications (computer system).Documentation is reflective of care provided to ensure accurate charges are placed.Possess the knowledge to use PYXIS medication delivery system while coordinating within the healthcare team in the safe delivery of medications.Ability to use GRASP acuity system.Productivity - ensures completion of assigned workloads and moves to unassigned work at own initiative. Works as scheduled, without unplanned absences.Education - Uses the nursing process to meet patient/family learning needs. Completes/attends all required in-services and unit staff meetings.Professionalism - Applies knowledge to practice through participation in performance improvement activities and application of nursing research.Consistently communicates to co-workers, medical staff, ancillary departments and customers to promote a collaborative and cooperative environment.Reliability - Ensures completion of assigned workloads and moves to unassigned work at own initiative.Other duties, as designated by the Director of ICU, House Supervisor, or mitted to demonstrating the following behaviors that shows that the healthcare team at Twin County Regional Healthcare CARES about our patients/families/physicians and each mit to a culture of safety and service.Act as a team with others.Respond to others'' needs.Engage others'' in a meaningful way.Seek ways to positively influence others.FUNCTIONAL DEMANDSWork requires physical ability such as walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting heavy objects/patients (patients 300+ pounds), stooping and climbing stairs.Walking intermittently through halls of hospital and outside.May be exposed to bad weather when escorting a discharged patient to their volves mental activity and problem-solving, to include the ability to implement solutions.May be exposed to injury by irrational or disturbed patients, patients with communicable diseases, and/or potentially dangerous equipment.Risk of exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.Exposure to blood, body fluid and hazardous wastes is moderate to frequent and must carry out universal precautions according to hospital policy.Bending required frequently, 45-90 degree angles, to check patients, to operate machinery.Speech, hearing, reading, writing and visual acuity necessary in order to perform job requirements.
