OverviewResponsible for installation, operation, maintenance and repair of all fire alarms systems to include fire detection, fire alarm systems and water-based protection systems per applicable NFPA standards in support of base operations. Will work with a team of operations maintenance and repair technicians and support personnel.This position subject to CBA. ResponsibilitiesThis position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.Major Job Activities:Complete effective and efficient inspection, testing, operation, installation, maintenance, repair, programming and upkeep of fire alarm and control systems following the NFPA-70 National Electrical Code. Shall inspect, test and maintain fire suppression systems to include kitchen ventilation hoods and related suppression systems.Shall be proficient in the principles of electronics and electricity; types, capacity, and purpose of low voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters.Shall have the skills and ability to inspect, test, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems; interpret instrument and meter readings, wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications, use applicable test equipment, safety rules and practices, environmental policies, and operation and repair of on-site fire alarm and control systems.Shall document inspection results and recommendations for replacement plan to ensure full operational capability, implement a preventative maintenance plan and maintain records to include an inventory to track fire alarm systems and door releases.Shall respond to emergency services requests to repair installed fire detection, alarm or protection system IAW the PWS.Shall maintain system database in Excel of all installed fire detection and alarm systems.Shall request parts through government established processes, receive parts and install in a timely fashion to ensure no delays in service.Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements.Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program.Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas.Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools).Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet.Performs other duties as assigned.Material &Equipment Directly Used:Circuits, breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays and meters. Standard office equipment (Computer, phone, scanner), automated management systems and tools associated with repair and maintenance work. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment. Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.Working Environment:Hand tools, specialty tools, gauges, electronic devices/meters, jigs, alignment devices and web based computer maintenance and inventory programs. Steel Toe shoes are required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted. Such PPE includes, but is not limited to: Face Mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices. Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).Physical Activities:Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs, as well as bend, twist, and squad for prolonged periods. Must be able to pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds. Function in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing dirt and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules. QualificationsEducation / Certifications:Must be a NFPA or equivalent certified professional.Must be an OEM certified professional.Must be a Certified Sprinkler ITM Specialist for Facility Managers and Certified Fire Alarm ITM Specialist for Facility Managers. Certified Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) Specialist.High school diploma or equivalent.Must have a current, valid U.S. Driver''s License (able to drive manual transmission).Must be able to pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge.Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological,radiological and nuclear) defense.Training includes the successful fit testing of DOD provided protective gear.U.S. citizenship is required. Active Secret Clearance.Experience:Shall have five years of experience in the ITM of fire alarm systems. Certified Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) Specialist.Shall be proficient in the Unified Facilities Criteria and National Fire Alarm Code.Skills:Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point.Fluent in English with good verbal, reading, and writing skills.Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements.Supervisory and Budgetary Responsibilities:Directly supervises other Fire Alarm System Mechanics and provides support to maintenance team.We are committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace that values and supports the contributions of each individual.
