Robotics Description The Robotics team is a research team devoted to exploring how machine learning can revolutionize the world of robotics. Recent advances in perception, fueled by the deep learning revolution, have made it possible to envision autonomous robots that acquire a deep understanding of their environment through sensing and learning. This requires new, scalable approaches to learning in the physical world, as well as safe and data efficient approaches to continuously improving sensorimotor skills, which will ultimately enable autonomous agents to safely act in human-centered environments. Role Description: Be part of a dynamic team of researchers exploring the envelopes of robotic operation and interaction. We are seeking an Electrical Hardware Engineer to lead and guide the development of complex robotic control hardware. Overall Responsibilities: Closely coordinate with embedded software and mechanical engineering teams to plan high-level design of multi-board electronics design, taking into account constraints such as weight, overall dimensions, temperature range of operation, vibration, etc.. Select components, sensors, and connectors. Provide development timelines & cost estimates and highlight potential risks. Design schematic and review complex PCBA designs including high-bandwidth communications (e.g. Ethernet) and high-current components. Select stackup and route PCB for HDI and/or high-current PCBAs. Work with PCBA manufacturing and assembly vendors to ensure on-time delivery and high yield. Develop test specifications and procedures. Bring up boards and perform initial testing. Design cable harnesses for interconnects. Document designs and cable harnesses to ensure reproducibility. Manage supply chain in cooperation with library management team. Coordinate with export control teams to support international shipment of PCBAs.
