Manager, Design Program Coaches

Job DescriptionThe manager of Design Program Coaches (DPC) is accountable for Agile practices of the Design organization across a given program, which includes approximately four Design Program Coaches and their Design Teams. They are also responsible for hiring, mentoring, and professional development of subordinate DPC's as well as serving as the DPC for 1-2 of their own teamsThe Design Program Coach is a hybrid role embedded with design teams that helps creative team members plan and execute their day-to-day work in a Scrum or Kanban framework.This role reports to the Senior Manager of Design Program Coaches within CVS Health Digital Product Design.RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a team of DPC's who each lead their own cross-functional design teams functioning at team and train layers of the Scaled Agile Framework.u2028 Encourage staff development by providing leadership and mentoring to team members. Foster a positive team culture that encourage continuous improvement.u2028 Demonstrate best practices, leading by example and coaching DPC's on Lean/Agile principles. Translate those principles to the design craft (and vice versa).u2028 Collaborate with design discipline managers/directors, team members, design program managers, and other operations professionals to implement practices and protocols for how creative shared service teams work within our organization and our agile framework. Likewise, contribute to initiatives as part of the Design Operations team to continually mature and refine our design and agile processesu2028 Serve as an escalation point for DPC's on blocked or dysfunctional process within the SAFe Solution Train Apply metrics and maturity models for DPC's and teams operating in Scrum, Kanban, or other frameworks.u2028 Partner with the agile transformation office to create a shared understanding with other agile practitioners and roles within in the organization, including but not limited to: agile coaches, release train engineers, engineering scrum masters, product owners.u2028 This role also performs the duties of the DPC for one to two design teams including facilitating ceremonies and providing direct coaching to team members.Required Qualifications7+ years of leadership experience with proven agile and facilitation skillsu2028 5+ years of experience working within a complex, matrixed organizationu2028 2+ years as a designer or directly supporting a product design organization within a scrum master, design producer or project manager capacity 2+ years of experience managing direct reports Strong meeting and exercise facilitation skillsu2028 Experience with systems thinking, solving problems for the whole and planning for continuous improvement.u2028 Strong analytical, oral and written communication, presentation skillsu2028 Ability to navigate through ambiguityu2028 Ability to lead with influence, setting direction at times for those not under direct line of managementu2028 Technical aptitude to support program's use of work management and collaboration toolsu2028 Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.COVID RequirementsCOVID-19 Vaccination RequirementCVS Health requires certain colleagues to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including any booster shots if required), where allowable under the law, unless they are approved for a reasonable accommodation based on disability, medical condition, religious belief, or other legally recognized reasons that prevents them from being vaccinated.
