The Designer must have experience in industrial drafting with the ability to produce practical and economical high-quality designs in accordance with industrial and engineering department standards and construction estimates. This individual is capable of performing as the lead designer on the largest/complex projects or multiple smaller projects, including successfully managing more scope and risk the larger projects require. The Designer will report to the Engineering Manager. What You'll Do: Produce practical and economical high-quality designs in accordance with industrial and engineering department standards and construction estimates Make decisions on assigned project(s) regarding design Execute assignments in conformance with project-specific documentation Oversee the drafting to ensure conformance with the engineered designs Customize design software for company use Participate in marketing Weitz engineering and construction services to potential clients Apply business science, system budgets, and construction knowledge appropriately to assigned tasks; Good builder Up to 20% of business travel may be required Other duties as assigned What We're Looking For:To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each previously stated duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to succeed in this role. Education: A Bachelor's Degree in an industry related field. Vocational, trade school experience and/or construction background is preferred. Ag business experience is a plus (facilities/process design engineering). Experience in a fast-paced business environment is helpful. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and LEAN principles. Procore experience is a plus. Designer II: At least three (3) years' experience of design engineering is necessary. Designer III: At least five (5) years' experience of design engineering is necessary. Sr. Designer: At least five (7) years' experience of design engineering is necessary. Skills: Candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, team leadership, business acumen and management ability. Employee must have negotiation, relationship building, organization skills, and construction knowledge. Effective communication, project management, judgment, initiative, time management and attention to detail, flexibility, and problem solving are necessary skills for this position. Ample systems experience with latest design platforms is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
