Senior IT Project Manager

Job DescriptionThe Senior Manager, Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a leader on the Agile Release Train (ART), a team of teams (50-125 people) that plan, commit, develop, and deploy software together to deliver significant value to Clinical Platform. This is an instrumental leadership role in the oversight and execution of Clinical initiatives that generates multimillion-dollar business value to the organization and touch millions of consumers every year. RTEs are accountable for relentless train improvement and for ensuring transparency about the ART's delivery, risks, and accomplishments. Key duties as follows: Drives train processes, ensuring teams have everything they need to successfully build the product and helps coach the ART in Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Acts as the train's focal point for communication and connections with all impacted teams needed to deliver on the work (SAFe trains, agile teams not on trains, waterfall teams, vendor partners, suppliers, etc.) Leads train meetings and processes, including Agile ceremonies Plans and facilitates the train's quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning event Ensures prioritization alignment, resolves conflicts, and clears cross-team/ART-level impediments and risks Sets the tone in shaping the train's culture, as an empathetic servant leader fostering an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, relentless improvement, and fun without "Command and Control" style Coaches train leaders, team leads, and team members (including scrum masters) in Lean-Agile practices and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Utilizes feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify and implement process improvements across the train and measures the results Manages the train's backlog and work in progress for improvement initiatives to reduce lead times and bottlenecks in the value stream Owns train budget and spend through forecasting, resource allocation and monitoring, in partnership with finance, product, and procurement Fosters innovation with best practices and frameworks through experimentation to improve program delivery Optimizes the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Board, Kanban Boards, and score cards Tracks and reports on progress of epic, feature, costs, benefits etc. using appropriate tools (Rally, etc.) across the train and with solution/ portfolio senior leadership and business partnersPay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: 95000Maximum: 209000Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. Please note that in some states and roles, you may be required to provide proof of full vaccination or an approved reasonable accommodation before you can begin to actively work.Preferred Qualifications-5+ years of Agile experience with leading scrum teams and all ceremonies (daily standup meetings, sprint planning, sprint review, sprint retrospective, maintenance of velocity metrics, tracking and managing work in progress, etc.).- 5+ years of experience with Agile and SAFe framework including managing complex project timelines with multiple dependency teams. Strong analytical, presentation skills, oral and written communication.- Experience using Agile best practices, i.e., burn-down charts, retrospective formats, defect management, user stories, automated testing, etc.- Experience with Agile approaches: i.e., XP, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), etc.-Skills using project management and collaboration tools such as Team Foundational Server and / or Azure DevOps Server etc.- Advanced understanding of resource allocations, forecasting, and budgeting.- Strong servant leadership skills, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, mentoring, empowerment, and increasing transparency.- Experience with large scale development environment.- SAFe Scum Master (SSM) certificationEducationBachelor's degree or equivalent experienceBusiness OverviewBring your heart to CVS HealthEvery one of us at CVS Health shares a single, clear purpose: Bringing our heart to every moment of your health.
