Summary: Oversees manufacturing and/or production operations, including assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging. Sets production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality. Considered at the Assistant Plant Manager level. Responsible and Ownership for the output of an entire Product Line. Utilizes in-depth professional knowledge but is guided by functional practices and well-defined management precedents. Focuses on implementing and executing strategies within own department, family, and team. Develops goals and performance expectations for subordinate leaders, both salary and hourly for the Product Line. Overall Team responsibility and ownership for the entire plant and JELD-WEN. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Senior Production Manager performs tasks such as taking inventory, making supply orders, handling disputes among team members and regularly assessing safety standards in all areas. Motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to all levels of department staff Ensures all Safety and Health standards are met to keep an organization accident-free. Willing to achieve OSHA 30 qualification within 1 year of hire. Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production Evaluates machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime Establishes a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations Sets productivity goals for each manufacturing team or product line Develops workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality Ensures adequate scheduling of staff of assigned product lines Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or Manufacturing Technology, master''s degree preferred or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8 years'' experience in a manufacturing facility that offered the opportunity to gain a well-rounded background in quality. Experience working in a wood manufacturing environment. Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred. Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Understand production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Strong organizational skills and ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-term goals. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written). Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office and the use of statistical software. Strong Problem Solving Skills and very good familiarity with Problem Solving Tools (Fishbone, 5-Whys, Root Cause Analysis, A-3, etc.) Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize. Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail. Strong analytical ability with the ability to troubleshoot problems that arise. Supervisory and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated good internal customer service skills. Good presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
