Job Description Medical Writing, part of Regulatory Affairs, is a global team of highly skilled professionals. The Role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Head of Medical Writing to join our dynamic team at the Executive Director level. You will oversee all Medical Writing department personnel and deliverables. You will drive the long-term vision for Medical Writing and shape the capabilities of the function to fulfill that vision. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all activities of Medical Writing staff including hiring; project assignments; training on policies and procedures; performance review and rewards; and budget and resource projections. Manage and senior leaders within Medical Writing across all Therapeutic Areas (Virology, Oncology & Inflammation). Focus on growth and development for Medical Writing staff. Foster an inclusive and supportive culture where transparency, delivering results, integrity, and personal accountability are valued. Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional leaders to ensure global continuity in document philosophy and practices, including the optimal quality of medical writing output in accordance with regulatory document requirements/guidance. Provide experience-based and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and document standards, and identify appropriate opportunities to expedite high-impact documents. Represent Medical Writing on senior leadership teams and lead cross-department initiatives supporting key company goals. Minimum Qualifications: PhD/Masters Degree with 14+ years OR Bachelors Degree with 16+ years of extensive clinical research and development, regulatory affairs, or related pharma/biotech industry and/or academic experience in a medical writing environment, overseeing internal and vendor staff, and providing vision for document preparation and cross-functional initiatives Demonstrated understanding of the strategy for resourcing and content of clinical/regulatory documents Expertise in leading large, cross-functional teams, providing clear direction for complex company processes and facilitating issue resolution Expertise in global regulatory affairs and particularly the requirements and mechanisms for regulatory approval in the United States and Europe Expert influencing, verbal communication, project management, and medical writing skills For Colorado Job Applicants: The salary range for this position is:$238,160.00 - $357,240.00 Gilead considers a range of factors, including background and experience, when determining base compensation. These considerations means actual compensation will vary. Position is also eligible for bonus and benefits.
