We also leverage our expertise in vacuum technology to provide unique, toxic chemical analysis products for emergency response, security, and environmental health and FICON''s Data Science Research group in Syracuse NY conducts research to analyze data from sensors and to identify events of critical importance to our customers. The group develops algorithms to process faint signals buried in noisy spectral data to help build advanced semiconductors, predict failures, and protect people''s lives from toxic chemicals. In this role you will lead and advise a group applying state-of-the-art machine learning technologies to difficult problems on noisy high-dimensional data. This team works in a multi-disciplinary team that includes experts in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Electronics, Semiconductor Manufacturing, and Environmental Applications. Research topics will have high visibility due to high potential to increase the value of global this job you will be given ample freedom to explore a wide range of novel approaches, you will work closely with scientific and business colleagues on large amounts of sensor data, and focus on writing high value code.Responsibilities:Lead and coach a team of scientists and researchers applying advanced techniques to large multi-dimensional spacesTake an active role to global data analytic initiativesResearch and develop models for identification of chemical compounds in sensor data from instrumentsDevelop experiments and software to collect and process datasets for training and testing of your modelsQualify and quantify performance of prototypes, both in the lab and in the fieldAid in the intellectual property strategy of INFICONPreferred Experience:PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics, with specialization in Data Science and Machine Learning is highly desire. However, all with relevant experience are encouraged to applyAt least 3 years'' experience managing a research team or groupFluency with Python, Linux, Scientific Computing, and Machine Learning LibrariesAccomplished Software Developer with experience training and testing ML modules on large data sets Preferred Background:Signal processingDemonstrated ability with statistical ML and with neural networksPublished papers and/or code for analyzing sensor data or process control dataPrior work with unsupervised or semi-supervised ML for anomaly detectionExperience with pyTorch or TensorflowExperience with multivariate time series analysis and modeling techniquesKnowledge of Physics or Chemometrics or Process ControlC++ Software DevelopmentINFICON provides a dynamic work environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
