Job SummaryTheSr. ITAM System Engineer will contribute to a team of ITAM Specialists working to assist SHI customers in understanding their Hardware and Software Environments. The Sr. ITAM System Engineer will join the IT & Software Asset Management (ITAM) Team to focus primarily on the discovery, collection and analysis of software and hardware information. This position can be office based from Austin TX, Somerset NJ, Paris France,Milton Keynes UKor Bucharest, Romaniaoffices. It is expected that this role will requirefrequenttravel both nationally and internationally (up toa maximum of50%). The Sr. ITAM System Engineer will focus primarily on the discovery and collection of software / hardware inventory but may also be involved in the software / hardware life-cycle advising customers on license entitlements, purchasing, deployment, decommissioning, and license re-allocation. The Sr. ITAM System Engineer will be become familiar with our preferred discovery toolJDisc, service delivery platform MIE byeTelligentSolutions Inc, as well as other approved department tools and technologies. The candidate will need to become familiar with the licensing of most major publishers'' products and their use rights. Help to provide technical support to customers as they implement and use the SHI Software/Hardware Discovery or other customer owned tools. Understand the underlying discovery tools and network technologies to help isolate and resolve customer problems when it comes to gathering asset hardware and software information. Support the development, constantenhancement,and update ofinventory toolsfor Oracle IT Asset Management. Assist customers with installing,running,and troubleshooting specialised data collection tools in a timely fashion. Deliver technical analysis and expertise on licensing Oracle products, including Data processing and scripting using Shell, Python, SQL, PL/SQL. Provide support and technicalconsultancyto supportOracle ITAM Consultantswith providing customers withOracle ITAM best practices. Perform accurate analysis of collected data, including analysis of Oracle Database Feature Usage Statistics and Oracle Options in order to establish Oracle licensable options and packs and Oracle Middleware products. Consult with ITAM Consultants and customers to improve processes and services. Participate and Lead peer reviews to overseethe ITAM Systems Engineers, Technicians and Administrators, while ensuring the process and quality standards are maintained. Quality check ofcustomers hardware and software asset information by the ITAM Systems Engineers, ITAM Technician and/or ITAM Administrator to maintain an accurate and complete inventory. Identify potential problem areas within customer environments and provide advice on problem resolution. Motivate and mentor the ITAM System Engineers and ITAM Technicians on the team. Ensure timely completion of technical measurement process steps as well as present and explain results to internal and external stakeholders using a variety of reports and BI visualizations. Keeps up to date with industry trends and new ITAM services requirements. Qualifications Candidates should possess a bachelors degree or equivalent work experience. 6 + years of experience in a systems operation or networking position. Experience with Oracle product set; Oracle DB, OracleMiddleware, Oracle Applications. Experience with IBM product sets in both hardware and software aspects. Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Citrix, App-V and Terminal Services. Experience with non-windows platforms such as UNIX/Linux, HPUX, AIX, Solaris, MAC OS etc. Required Skills Strong entrepreneurialspirit:a desire and willingness to do whatever it takes. Strong Knowledge of and experience with domain administration (Active Directory, group policies, etc.). knowledge of and experience with operating system administration (registry, permissions, etc.). Administration of LANs, WANs and internet/intranet networks, network connectivity troubleshooting, ping, tracert, telnet. Investigating, diagnosing and resolve all network problems. Skilled knowledge of database systems, Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Microsoft Server usage and languagetoread,develop andunderstand SQL scriptsfor data collection and automate data processing. Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Citrix, App-V and Terminal Services. Scripting methodologies skills in order to increase automation of administrative and discovery functions, experience in writing Windows PowerShell scripts. Expert knowledge of software inventory systems (likeOracle-verified Tools,JDisc, SCCM, Altiris, IBMBigfixetc).
