We´re leading the industry in sustainable energy careers. We hope you´ll join us. Overview Summary: The Geotechnical Engineer is a key position within the EPC team. This position develops strategies and techniques to improve screening and characterization of prospective sites´ subsurface conditions and the execution of construction projectsas well as strategies for cost effective, risk reduced foundation designs on the execution side. This position will also require working with other project engineers project managers and developers, as well as developing and managing relationships with external consulting engineering firms to support internal engineering efforts. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaboration with Sr. Geotechnical Engineer on assigned tasks. Coordination and supervision of geotechnical site investigation services by Consultants, including development of scopes of services, contract management, and invoice review. Risk assessment of subsurface conditions. Work with the design team and project development teams to development risk reduction strategies and designs. Continuous improvement of site screening and subsurface characterization, as well as foundation design implementation. Assist civil and electrical engineers in the design of PV systems and interpretation of materials testing results. Perform preliminary design and analysis of system foundations, including driven pile, drill and set pile (concrete/grout), and other alternative foundation types. Work with external Independent or Owner´s Engineer representatives to support project activities. On-site observations of construction materials installation and testing including steel, concrete and soils. On-site observations of erosion and drainage problems, support in the design of repairs, and oversight of construction activities related to repairs. Qualifications Required Education and/or Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in Geotechnical Engineering field. Attention to detail and ability to work independently and within a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact on a high-level professional basis. Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. On-site coordination and supervision of geotechnical site investigation services. Familiar with soil characterization studies and methodology, including thermal and electrical resistivity analysis. B.S. in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure or ability to obtain within two years. Advanced degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering. Assist senior engineers in the design of PV systems and interpretation of materials testing results. Experience in geotechnical, hydrogeological and/or structural engineering. Development and implementation of templates and other project specific tools. Intermediate-level proficiency in LPILE, AllPile, and AutoCAD release 2018 or later including AutoCAD Civil 3D surface and developing 2D cross-sections. Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Work is performed in the office and in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to weather elements when in the field. Limited out of town travel is required (estimated travel ~ 10-20%).
