Description West Virginia University Research Office is currently accepting applications for a Senior Research Data Compliance Analyst About the Opportunity Under the direction of the WVU Research Office Director or Research Systems and Data Services, the Senior Research Data Compliance Analyst is responsible for facilitating the sharing, use, release, and granting of access to WVU operational research data in accordance with WVU policies and state and federal laws that govern the use, release, and management of data used and created as a result of research activity across.This role will support and maintain Research Office data management processes and policy and facilitate the definition of new processes and procedures to support evolving institutional and legal requirements. The Senior Research Data Compliance Analyst will apply expert-level knowledge in regulatory guidelines, security policies, and technologies to support research data management. This position will coordinate and work with institutional IT departments to develop new technical solutions to meet compliance requirements and define new processes and standard operating procedures to enable teams across the enterprise to adhere to policy and legal guidelines and regulations. The candidate will identify opportunities for automation of existing compliance processes and procedures to introduce operational efficiencies for governance and agreements to facilitate an improved experience for the researcher and reduce compliance risk. This position allows for flexibility in work location, including remote work/work from home options. Wellness programsWhat you''ll do: As a member of a cross-functional Data Compliance team, the Senior Research Data Compliance Analyst will join professionals with a broad knowledge of the healthcare industry, including contracting, legal affairs, research, privacy, security, research informatics, regulatory reporting, compliance, and healthcare IT. The Senior Research Data Compliance Analyst will be an integral part of a collaborative cross-functional team to deliver exceptional client service to meet WVU compliance and security objectives. Responsible for coordination of the intake, review, and management of data protection requests for research projects. Work closely with IT, Information Security, General Counsel, the Research Office staff, and the research community to facilitate approvals. Facilitate the approvals of technology used for research. Partner with IT, Information Security, General Counsel, and the Research Office to develop processes and facilitate policy development. Partner with IT and the Research Office on complex, cutting-edge informatics initiatives to apply data expertise in complex research technology environments to facilitate approvals and ensure compliance requirements are managed. Apply expertise in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, data de-identification, and the definitions of Protected Health Information, Research Health Information, and de-identified clinical data to assist with complex human subjects'' research scenarios. Facilitate the intake of data sharing review requests and the analysis and classification of data. Serve as a subject matter expert in data classification and de-identification methods to quickly determine whether data sets have been sufficiently de-identified for the planned release, use, or sharing of the data. Develop training and educational materials for the research community and others.Qualifications Master''s degree. Bachelor''s in Information Systems, Public Health, Health Care Administration or related field AND related experience will be considered in lieu of Master''s degree. A minimum of three (3) years exerience in the following: Work in a large research institution. Process modeling and the documentation of processes through workflow diagrams and user documentation. Informatics, research data analysis, research data management. Information systems operational support or software development. Managing complex technical or compliance projects. Research workflows and environments. Demonstrated ability to integrate critical information across disciplines. Knowledge of clinical patient care, informatics, and/or clinical research workflows and concepts. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to lead teams, manage complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions. Ability to demonstrate excellent judgment, attention to process, and detail. Demonstrated ability to articulate complex compliance information to technical teams, Leadership, and customers across disciplines. Discretion, confidentiality, tact, and ability to deal with sensitive data involving Protected Health Information (PHI), Research Health Information (RHI), and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Strong track record of providing excellent customer service to support technical solutions, institutional policies, or service processes. Proven ability to prioritize work across diverse focus areas to ensure that customer and institutional deadlines are met. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience drafting PowerPoint presentations for Management and Senior Leadership that communicate complex IT or compliance information. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience defining and drafting healthcare or research data management, use, release, or access policies or plans.
