Job SummaryThis position successfully sets-up and operates injection molding machines. Creates and/or modifies molding machine parameters/processes from existing saved or documented conditions to produce quality products. Installs pre-assembled molds, and also removes them from designated injection molding machines. The Process Technician will also set up appropriate ancillary equipment to support successful injection molding operations (e.g. robots, sprue picker, grinders, conveyors, etc.). The Process Technician records dimensional and visual part inspection data and/or observations into the manufacturing Shop Order (e.g. ERP System - IFS).Essential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesHas knowledge of Cincinnati Milacron Roboshot electric Injection Molding Machines (IMM) in a high volume/high material mix environment to manufacture medical/industrial components.At IMM start-up, establishes highly repeatable decoupled molding processes utilizing all machine control functionality, and ensures consistent processing parameters are maintained to allow unattended manufacturing of quality parts.Retrieves serviceable mold from vault and installs mold in designated IMM as required. Removes mold from designated IMM asrequired by the production schedule. This is a secondary function to be performed when time permits.Changes out raw material as required by schedule. Typically, this may entail swapping the feed tube from one Gaylord to anotheracceptable Gaylord, or changing material storage hoppers at the press.Maximizes clamp and ejector functions and safely determines settings utilizing the AI clamp and ejector functionality where available.Creates optimized process parameters utilizing relative viscosity curves, gate freeze studies and other tools to establish new processes (e.g. new parts), or for existing parts to enhance quality.Responsible for operation and/or programming of ancillary equipment to support production processes, which includes, but is not limited to Sprue Picking robots which have multiple degrees of freedom, and with training will be able to program and/or troubleshoot degating robots.Works with engineering and quality assurance personnel to establish appropriate material processing parameters, achieving the highest quality parts possible.Performs the initial and ongoing dimensional & visual quality assurance inspections to ensure product quality, and logs appropriate information into Value Plastics, Inc. ERP system (i.e. IFS).Creates Fault Reports (FR) in IFS to identify mold/machine deficiencies.Responsible for being a productive process team member including identifying Continuous Improvement ideas that benefit not only manufacturing, but all secondary operations as well.Responsible for overall cleanliness of machines and surrounding Cell work terfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance personnel on both specific and broad production issues. Must effectively communicate with all of these persons, teams or departments.Value Plastics, Inc. operates a Monday thru Friday shift, as well as a 4-10 hour shift for Friday thru Monday. The Process Technician must be willing to work either of the shifts to support production requirements. Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (i.e. written and/or verbal).Education and Experience Requirements Associate''s Degree (A.A.) with preferred with knowledge of the plastics industry.Preferred Skills and Abilities Must be able to use standard measuring/inspection devices (i.e. micrometer, gauge pins, microscope, caliper, optical inspection equipment, etc.) for product quality assurance purposes.Must understand and be able to apply ISO 9001 concepts.Must understand and be able to apply SPC (Statistical Process Control) concepts.Well developed written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Good analytical skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete puter Skills:Proficient in use and navigation of Windows operating system in a networked environment. Theemployee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. Must work in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly exposed tomoving mechanical equipment, frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, toxic or causticchemicals and where plastic injected parts are produced and packaged (i.e. plastic dust present, noise up to 80 db, etc.). The employee mustfrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjustfocus. Must wear shop coat, hair net and facial hair net when applicable.
