Summarized Purpose: Responsible for managing a wide array of laboratory equipment in the microbiology laboratory. This includes environmental monitoring equipment and other laboratory equipment used in support of biologics clinical manufacturing This is a laboratory-based position and includes, but is not limited to: overseeing the sustainability of the requalification, calibration, performance verification and preventative maintenance programs of the laboratory equipment development of procedures, qualification protocols, deviation reports, change controls, decommissioning reports collaborating with external contract service providers to ensure that laboratory equipment are serviced in accordance with lab quality standards, implementation of quality/service agreements, troubleshoot system malfunction, and facilitate the acquisition process of new equipment maintaining up-to-date system calibration status in multiple electronic database platforms (VelQuest and Biovia e-logbook); and support the ASO management team in internal and external audit inspections. Qualifications: Extensive experience using instrumentation for various analytical techniques; Expertise in qualification of analytical instruments and equipment. Must possess effective multi-tasking and oral/written communication skills and be capable of working both independently as well as with the team, driving projects to completion with management oversight. Education and Experience: BS in a scientific field or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification. Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5-8 years). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Working knowledge and understanding of laboratory equipment and foundations of troubleshooting • Knowledge of mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, relational databases, and other analytical instrumentation operation • Working knowledge with systems in use at PPD or within the CRO/Pharmaceutical industry • Client focused approach with strong interpersonal skills • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Ability to communicate effective with vendors, clients and all levels of staff • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task • Ability to train others • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment Working Environment: PPD, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific values the health and well being of our employees.
