The Product Systems Team is seeking aLead Systems Engineer to step into this hands-on technical leadership role. You would be responsible for Requirements, System Design, Implementation Support, and Verification of system-level products and programs from concept through manufacturing and customer support. The Lead Systems Engineer takes on Project Engineer responsibilities and other lead technical roles on projects. Systems Engineers work collaboratively with Product Management, Program Management, and Sales along with engineering leads from Hardware, Software, and Product Test. They are humble leaders in service to their teams, ensuring strategic alignment between people, processes, and strategies.The essential duties and responsibilities include: Provides leadership and expertise to Product Systems Team. Act as Project Engineer on medium and large development projects.Exercise authority to drive positive technical outcomes on development projects.Provide coaching and mentorship to the Systems Engineering team members.Work with business and customer representation to clearly identify product and program requirements and features. This may include technical proposal support, technical customer presentations and meetings.Lead system design/architecture development for complex communications systems across RF, PHY, MAC, Networking, and Application layers.Decompose system requirements into subsystem requirements for efficient implementation in hardware, FPGA, DSP, and microprocessor-based subsystems.Work with program management and engineering leads to define overall implementation milestones and associated schedules and budgets. Provide timely and accurate status of project implementation against plan.Work closely with subsystem leads to ensure that requirements are understood, well communicated, and complete. Support detailed design questions from developers throughout implementation.Work with system test leadership to develop an integration and validation strategy to efficiently verify system-level product requirements as development progresses.Lead system-level debug efforts to resolve complex issues efficiently.Author and present technical white papers at customer and industry events to further TrellisWare''s reputation as a communications systems leader.Clarifies goals and expectations for teams performance (removes obstacles and provides necessary resources and feedback) in order to achieve agreed targets and results, and synergistically supports departmental success.Develops relationships with team members built on trust and respect.Education and work experience requirements are: Bachelor''s degree in electrical engineering or related field of study required.At least ten years related Systems Engineering experience. Experience in the System Engineering process disciplines of a large military defense contractor desirable.To be considered for this position, you would need to meet, at a minimum, the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here: Multiple examples of successful project leadership to deliver military or commercial wireless products - Examples: Commercial (GSM, CDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.), Military (TSM, SRW, WNW, MUOS, Link-16, etc.) Project management of HW, SW, Product Test, and Manufacturing disciplines.Extensive experience interfacing with customer/business development for requirements definition, training, product demonstration, and support. RF system design and/or test for wireless handset or similarModem design, simulation, and/or test with relevant experience in key sub-systems such as MAC/Networking, Digital Hardware, embedded SW, or RF DesignAbility to abstract complex, technical concepts and communicate them in an a clear, relevant, complete manner to others.Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and interact with a variety of engineering development teams.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong collaborative drive and interpersonal skills.Prioritization and delegation skills.Ability to mentor and coach junior employees in professional development and process improvement.Ability to evaluate performance against defined goals and effectively communicate areas of growth/improvement for direct reports. Willingness to champion change and promote innovation.
