Want to grow with us?Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations, the Editorial Manager is a key player in the execution of performance-driven content of all kinds-collateral, blogs, magazines, email, social media, advertising campaigns, executive presentations, faculty-contributed content, case studies, landing pages, and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong editorial background, preferably with content oversight in both journalistic and marketing environments. They will be responsible for managing our marketing communications writers, developing their skill sets and overseeing their day-to-day work process and product. This person will also maintain our internal style guide, as well as ensure that all copy adheres to compliance standards. They will become a vital leader in the marketing communications team, finding innovation content solutions to achieve marketing objectives. The editorial manager will also manage external freelance writers and a proofreader, to ensure all content is thoroughly reviewed before deployment, serving as our last line of defense against errors. We are looking for someone who balances creativity and a meticulous attention to detail very well. Someone who understands how content works within an ecosystem of integrated marketing campaigns, and who can help our team of writers push the boundaries of storytelling to foster affinity with a brand. They will be tenacious and know how to ask the right questions to make sure we are capturing the heart of a story. They will be flexible, innovative, and creative in their approach to problem solving editorial challenges. They must be a confident, self-motivated teammate who won''t hesitate to jump in and work alongside team members on projects and tasks of all levels. They must come to work with a positive attitude and be a collaborative partner in the writing and editing process. They will possess initiative and good judgment and will be conscientious and trustworthy.TCS Education System operates in hybrid, remote, or on-site environments pending departmental and student support needs. Employees may have the opportunity to work from a home office, as well as travel to offices, campuses, or universities for hybrid and on-site support as needed. This opportunity operates in the Chicago office 1-2 days per week as needed. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop content strategies in partnership with key leaders and stakeholders to meet marketing goalsManage marketing communications writers, assigning projects and overseeing the development of content Collaborate on content ideation and direction with writers to ensure a clear marketing objective and purpose is established ahead of research and writingLearn all brands, and act as a resource for all employees who are developing copy and content Edit content at different stages of the production cycle, with a keen eye for brand voice, marketing objective, and SEO Manage external proofreader, who will review all content before deploymentManage magazine production process for two print publications and one digital publication, from story pitching to printingCollaborate with design, web development, and other key partners on cross-functional creative projectsCollaborate with SEO agency partners to plan content and copy that can boost our brand presence and organic search rankingsManage editorial standards guide and TCS style guide for all brands within TCS Education SystemEnsure team is adhering to editorial standards, AP style, or TCS style when applicable, in all contentBe a liaison with faculty and students at our partner colleges who are submitting content for our blogs or magazines for editing and approvalsHelp ensure that team is meeting deadlines for editorial projectsBe responsible for ensuring all content is compliant and meets ethical guidelinesSupport with the writing and development of specific projects as needed (could be anything from an email to an executive presentation)Other duties and responsibilities as neededPosition Requirements: Highly creative and understand the importance of performance-driven content to meet marketing objectivesHighly meticulous and able to oversee the production of error-free copyMastery of brand standards and voiceDetail and deadline orientedGood understanding of SEOExpert understanding of AP style and ability to learn TCS styleMaster the editorial expectations of leadership for each type and style of content, to help guide writers in the execution of their workHighly imaginative problem solver when unexpected issues arise in reporting and writing stories and other contentMust be an extremely collaborative and positive team player who can build strong relationships across the marketing departmentWell-organized and detail-oriented with strong project management skillsFlexible, versatile learner; open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframesComfortable working with subordinates, superiors, clients, media, partners, vendors and associates at all levelsExhibits superior professionalism and judgmentPosition Qualifications:Bachelor''s Degree or greater in journalism, communications, marketing, or related concentration.Minimum 3-5 years of content writing or marketing experience.Proficient in content strategy for multiple kinds of writing: feature stories, profiles, blogs, news articles, white papers, emails, social media campaigns, press releases, ad copy, marketing collateral, etc.Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in AP Style.Must have solid proficiency with MS Office software - particularly Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) a plus. Prior experience managing staff a plus.
