Bachmans, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN, seeks 22 Seasonal Landscape Installers I for temporary, full-time employment (04/01/2022 to 11/11/2022) Bachmans was founded in 1885 and remains a family-owned business, with fifth-generation Bachman family members leading the company today. Bachmans operates six full-service Floral, Gift& Garden Centers throughout the Twin Cities, a gift shop in the Galleria, a Hardscapes Center in Farmington, and 28 floral departments within Lunds & Byerlys grocery stores. Additionally, Bachmans operates indoor and outdoor landscaping divisions, a weddings and special events department, a wholesale nursery division, seven acres of greenhouses, and a 670-acre growing range in Lakeville, Minn., which produces many of the plants, flowers, and landscaping products sold by Bachmans today. Job Description: Work under the direction of the Crew Leader or Lead to install landscape materials at customer sites Install trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, decorative rock, containers, landscape mulch and plastic edging using manual hand tools Load and unload trucks with retail products, related hard goods and equipment at customer site and landscape distribution center Organize products Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws Haul or spread topsoil, or spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place. May drive crew to and from customer locations. Perform job duties at projects in the Twin Cities and surrounding counties. May perform other job duties pursuant to 37-3011, Landscaping and Groundskeeping Workers. Schedule: 35-40 hours/week, 0-20 OT hours/week may be available or required and will vary; 8-hour shifts; 5 days/week (Mon-Fri, Sat optional; business is open 7 days/week); 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Qualifications: 3 months experience in landscape and hardscape installation. On-the-job training will not be provided. Must be able to: obtain Class D drivers license within 30 days of employment Ability to work on feet Wheel a wheelbarrow with a minimum of 3 cubic ft. of rock or soil; lift 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. often Ride in trucks to job site. Wage: $18.17/hr; O/T $27.26/hr; Workers will be paid no less than $18.17 per hour. Employer may pay higher wage rates to workers based on seniority with employer and level of skill. Overtime hours may vary, depending on weather and other conditions, and will be paid no less than $27.26 per hour. Employer assurances pursuant to 20 CFR 655.20: Single work week used in computing wages due. Wages paid bi-weekly. Work tools, supplies & equipment provided without cost to employee. Employer will make all deductions from the workers paycheck required by law and any non-legally required payroll deductions permitted under the law and requested by Employee. Upon 50% completion of work contract, employer will reimburse the worker for transportation & subsistence from place of recruitment to place of work within five days of receiving the expense receipts. Employer will issue reimbursement within the first workweek when required to meet FLSA minimum wage obligations. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, if the worker has no immediately subsequent H-2B employment, the employer will provide or pay for workers reasonable costs of return transportation & subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical & reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $14.00 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. Employer will reimburse worker in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing & related fees, incl. those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
