The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. Position Summary:We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Manager to provide consistent oversight of the daily activities of the Clinical Operations Team under the direction of DON and CMO. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the unit, supervision of nurses and Medical Assistants, ensuring all clinical operations staff maintain good quality services to patients while satisfying HIPAA and patient rights, rules and regulations. The Nurse Manager creates and communicates new and amended standard operating procedures to staff under the supervision of the DON and CMO. The Nurse Manager conveys a positive and professional image while representing the clinical trials office in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.Job Responsibilities:Provides cross coverage for clinical operations within the clinic.Manage day-to-day functions of the clinical team by monitoring floor activities to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness of the services providesConducts performance management monitoring and participates in problem identification and solution finding to improve key processes/systems/patient care. Shares results in staff meetings and encourages staff participation in performance management and quality improvement initiatives. Participates on a voluntary or appointed basis in inter and intra-departmental and inter-disciplinary committees to improve patient care.Serves as a role model to staff in considering needs and behaviors of specific patient & cultural groups. Demonstrates an awareness of and respect for coworkers and patients cultural background.Maintains awareness of research protocols, ensures knowledge of staff, protects patient rights, and participates in assessment & evaluation of outcomes. Participates in protocol feasibility process, to ensure availability of resources in order to fully execute clinical trials safely and efficiently. Participates in the identification and planning for future resource allocation.Collaborates with managers and director to ensure effective and efficient intra-departmental team collaboration and communication and acts as a role model to all staff by consistently demonstrating positive and professional collaboration within the department.Manages and leads staff to develop collaborative working relationships within the clinic. Utilizes effective conflict resolution strategies when dealing with staff, providers, and patients.Manage patients complaints and fosters an environment that promotes patient, family, provider, and staff satisfaction, and communicates issues and concerns to Director of Nursing and CMO and management as needed in a timely manner.Handles employees conflict resolution to discover root cause of employees concerns and when necessary to identify and correct deficiencies and trainings as related deviations and ensure employee satisfaction. Establishes a pleasant working environment conducive to teamwork, growth and recognition.Guides, develops, and counsels staff regarding practice and performance standards. Participates in the implementation of staff improvement plans. Provides input to and participates in informal and formal review of performance standards of clinical operations staff.Evaluates orientation for new staff, trains/mentors, identifies educational needs, and coordinates in-services. Provides in-service education to staff members.Responsible for the onboarding, training, and ongoing supervision and development of Clinical Nurses and Medical AssistantCollaborates with the DON for appropriate supplies and equipment and ensures proper utilization, maintenance and accountability for supplies and equipment on unit.Maintains effective, ongoing and timely communication with staff and maintains records of meetings. Maintains records on licensure, certifications and competencies of the staff.Counsels and coaches clinical support staff concerning their work performance and development; holds staff accountable for performance. Establishes work performance and clinical competency of personnel on a timely basis and makes recommendations for promotions, transfers and discharges. Investigates incidents and occurrences and institutes corrective action as appropriate in collaboration with Human terviews and recommends hiring of applicants for clinical operations positions with the Director of Nursing and/or Chief Medical Director and the HR Dept.Prepares clinical staff schedules in a timely manner, monitors appropriate use of benefit time, and submits for approval to management. Assists with scheduling staff for optimal availability of resources, evaluating acuity of each service, suggesting adjustments as needed. Provides leadership for coordination of daily clinical research activity.Education, Licenses and/or Certifications, Experience Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing BSN required. Licensed and Registered Nurse in New York Minimum of 3 years in a management roleMinimum of 5 years of hospital or clinic experience requiredDemonstrates flexibility to shifting priorities and rapid change. Understands broad organizational and business issues, has and uses cross functional knowledge, and knows how to get things done and whom to involve at the appropriate time.Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills in the areas of supervision and directs staff in its application.The ideal candidate will also demonstrate competency in nursing practices such as; directing and coordinating the delivery of nursing services, with strong analytical abilities and problem resolution skills. Knowledge of federal, state and other regulatory agencies laws and requirements.
