USPI Hyde Park Surgery Center, is seeking a motivated Surgical Technologist to join our team. Hyde Park Surgery Center is a strong and established outpatient surgery center located in the heart of Austin, Texas. We have 3 operating rooms and specialize in Orthopedics, ENT, Spine and Pain Management. We are preferably seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist to join our clinical team. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Float opportunities with shift differential are available to supplement hours during the slower times. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings, dependent on surgical schedule, and be comfortable or willing to learn and assist with sterile processing. Weekdays only - no major holidays, weekends, or call. Job Description:• Efficiently and effectively assists physician with operative procedures• Anticipates surgeon/physician''s needs both in preparing for procedures and during procedure• Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations.• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.• Handles instruments in a manner which prolongs ''life'' of instrument.• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Is responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.• Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.• Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated.• Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.• Transports all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas. Assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.• Ensure that all documentation of sterile processing of instruments, biological testing, and sterilization monitoring are completed and organized in an easy to access fashion.• Make sure that all vendor trays is completed on a daily basis, coordinate supplies with the materials department, assist in evaluation of sterile processing and remain compliance by sterile processing staff• Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.• Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.• Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.• Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.• Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team.• Attends in-services, conferences, and meetings as required.• Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees. Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.• Maintains designated certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.• Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.• Complies with Policies and Procedures, and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Assist and oversee the maintenance, decontamination, assemble and sterilization of surgical instrumentation. USP-123USP-STLI-CM1Required Skills:Required/Preferred Skills:• Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred; high school diploma or equivalent preferred• 1 year of relevant experience (Orthopedic/ENT) preferred; willing to train the right candidate• BLS required upon start date• Knowledge or willingness to learn and assist in Sterile Processing required USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
